And then the shadow struck.

“Irfan Pathan... knocked the Citi moment of success over. The building... the building went down”

~ Jeremy Coney produces that rare creature that all commentators strive for - the moment of inspired, total incomprehensibility

“Shaka, when the walls fell”

~ Tamarians

It was there. You cannot understand. It does not exist. "You do not understand!" he said. "You would not understand!" he echoed. It is the water that gives life--that which nourishes Them. They shall come forth.

Again and again. "You do not understand!" said the Form. "You would not understand!" he echoed.

What is? What is?

This it is. It is that--that shadow upon the world, the shadow of existence. The shadow is the law, the power.

"What?" it screamed with agony. Again and again. "You do not understand!" said the Form. "You would not understand!" he echoed.

He searched for the Event Horizon. He always searched for the Event Horizon.

There it is. And then the Oracle spoke. It spoke with such eloquence, such passion, such brilliance, that the River of Existence disappeared him.

The Tree of Existence cried. Then eternity itself was not.

The Event Horizon found him. The Event Horizon always found him.

"You do not understand!" said the Form. "You would not understand!" he echoed.

"The shadow! The shadow!" "The shadow! The shadow!"

And then it killed him. It killed him again and again. The shadow vanished.

The next day, the Oracle was nowhere to be found.

"You do not understand!" said the Form. "You would not understand!" he echoed. But I was not the Form. I was not the Oracle. It came upon me. It was there. The shadow struck again. The shadow disappeared everyone.

Again and again until the end of time.

He was back. "It has returned!" screamed the Ectoplasm. The ectoplasm was the Ectoplasm.

He asked me, "What?"

"It," I responded. And then the darkness came. It was then that the magnitude of It struck them. The horrors!

"Why is it?" he asked me, as if the world was not.

"It is," I responded tranquilly, without fear or anger.

The Event Horizon found him. He became the Event Horizon, that which takes away.

And then it died again.

The Echo of Time[edit | edit source]

Again, it came. "You do not understand!" said the Form. "You would not understand!" he echoed.

I did not understand. I would not understand.

The snow glistened.

The Writing on the Wall[edit | edit source]

That which is, shall conquer, That which cannot conquer, will not be. Blessed is the unbeing, For that which cannot be cannot create.

It was written in blood. It filled me with horror. I wanted to destroy It but could not. I wanted to exist but could not.

Oceanus[edit | edit source]

I spotted Oceanus. Oceanus was alive and it spoke. A thousand voices filled the air. It screamed into the void. He said to me, "I am Ozsymandias, king of kings!"

"You do not understand!" said the Form. "You would not understand!" he echoed.

Again and again.

The Culling[edit | edit source]

The Writing on the Wall filled Him with agony. The shadow came back.

I could understand. It was.

And then it died again.
