There's a new feature on Wikia called Wikia Spotlight where we highlight 4 or 5 wikis above the ads. We're thinking of extending or changing this (on Wikia) to show links to wikis in the footer and those links could be chosen by the community. For example, a wiki could choose 10 wikis that they thought of as "sister sites" (wikis on a related topic in the same language) and those wikis would be shown underneath the footer (where the disclaimers link is in the monobook skin).

It could be opt-in so wikis that want these footer links would be the ones shown in the footer of other wikis, so there's a feeling of getting something in return.

Some questions for Uncyclopedians:

Useful?
Would Uncyclopedians also find this feature useful, or at least not awful? :)
Which wikis to link to?
Are there wikis you feel are related to Uncyclopedia, or would a rotating footer that just showed some random wikis there be acceptable?
Objections?
Are there any objections to using that space on Uncyclopedia for highlighting other wikis?
Where?
Would you prefer it to be under the ads instead of under the footer?
Format?
It could either be in little boxes like the stillwaters and chronarion ones are, or just plain text like this:
TV wikis: Adult SwimBaywatchBuffyDesperate HousewivesIdol
Which is best?

Let me know what you think. Angela 12:26, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Not at this Wiki! I edit other Wikis which are more serious, but this would kind of leave a hole. Crazyswordsman...With SAVINGS!!!! (T/C) 15:26, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
For removing the ads and the footer. (I don't mind either way, as I don't see either anyway. Whatever anyone else wants is good for me.) Spang talk 17:31, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

For removing the ads and the footer. Our definition of "sister site" is not 'let's spam every page of our wiki with links to projects which have nothing to do with any of the Uncyclopædias other than being on the same webserver'. To qualify as a "sister project", a wiki is typically an Uncyclopedia in another language (regardless of location) or a parody of some other encyclopedia wiki in the same group (such as UnNews to parody WikiNews, or UnCommons as a WikiCommons lookalike). What you propose isn't a useful addition, it's just another advertisement. We're already in violation of the non-commercial license CC-BY-NC-SA "You may not exercise any of the rights... above in any manner that is primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or private monetary compensation" now that Wikia has taken the domain name with the primary goals of using the site to distribute Google ads and to drive traffic to other wikis with even more ads on every page in order to make a buck for outside investors. As one more useless ad on our pages, this is just one more step in the commercialisation of Uncyclopedia. Don't go there... just don't go there. --Carlb 10:40, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Can we not think of a way we can turn it into some rib-tickling advantage? Then again, Wikipedia's not at Wikia, so if they don't have this then we shouldn't either, seeing as they parody us we should try and keep as similar as possible... Freemorpheme.gif 17:40, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

I can't speak for anyone else, but I never look at the bottom of the page, so it doesn't particularly upset me. It is a good point that Wikipedia doesn't do it and it would clash with the goal of confusing the stupid into thinking the article is from Wikipedia, part of the fun of Uncyclopedia. Overall, I'm like, "meh", though I would certainly like Uncyclopedia to be all over the other wikis' ads >).--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 18:54, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Are they real wikis? This one starts "Welcome to the Idol Wiki, a Idol Series encyclopedia that anyone can edit.

In this wiki, started on April 25, 2005, we are currently working on 30 articles."

They are like instant reskins for us. Freemorpheme.gif 23:39, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

They are real... but not always active. Of course, I'm sure your love of Pop Idol could shine though here and it could be revived to its full and glorious potential! -- sannse (talk) 11:08, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
