Wikipedia, has three quote templates: this one is the most important, followed by this one and this one. In our continued struggle to be parodied by Wikipedia, and since we already have a Template:Cquote, I suggest we should bring our currently motly-looking quote templates up to their standard.
This means...
- Replacing the contents of Template:Q with this:
{{cquote|{}|30px|30px|{}|on {}}}
- Replacing the contents of Template:QNL with this:
{{cquote|{}|30px|30px|{}|on {}}}
- Replacing the contents of Template:QDate with this:
{{cquote|{}|30px|30px|{}|{{if|{}|on {}}} {}}}
- Replacing the contents of Template:Wilde with this:
{{cquote|{}|30px|30px|Oscar Wilde|{{#if:{}|on {}}}}}
- Replacing Template:Quote with:
{{cquote|{}|30px|30px|{{{3|{}}}}|{{#if:{}|on {}}}}}
- Deleting Template:Q ex.

- Do we still need this many quote templates? How advanced is our ha><0ring? Can we replace a bunch of the above with one template with a few #ifs in it?
- Secondly, how obnoxious will it be to make all the current
spamquotes at the top of pages surrounded with such quotes? Wikipedia doesn't seem to have anywhere the same amount of quote-spam that we do, and I worry that we'll be flooding the tops of pages with their current quota of quotes. 05/14 21:59- Whenever I come across a Template:Quote I tend to change it to a Q or a QNL, these being the simplest and probably the two most used these days. Q ex is now unused and a redirect so that can go right away. QDate is used only on Nicholas Parsons but it's really used there. Wilde puts things in Category:Oscar Wildeizms which may or may not be a good thing (certainly good for weeding!) Oh, and of course you forgot about the absolutely essential Template:Welles! (As well as various other ones I can't be arsed to go through right now...) -- Whhhy?Whut?How? *Back from the dead* 23:06, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oh yes, and as for the cquote business, I frankly don't think most of the quotes are good enough to deserve such a snazzy and spacious template. I think they should go to bed and think about what they did, and maybe if they're very good we'll let them be slightly centred or something. --Whhhy?Whut?How? *Back from the dead* 23:12, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
