Hello.

The community of Absurdopedia (that's Russian Uncy) has decided to leave Wikia and to move to an independent server. Unfortunately, the Staff turned down our request for changing interlanguage links for every Uncy on Wikia. Therefore we ask every large Uncy on Wikia to request the changing directly from Wikia Staff. The fact is they can't turn down a simultaneous request from five large Uncys.

The message is also sent to French, Italian, Spanish and Polish Uncys.

We'll need to new link though if you can provide it. ~Jewriken.GIF 10:26, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
New URL is absurdopedia.net (prooflink). Edwardtalk 10:34, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
And the page for requests is there. — Praetorian the Glorious Strategist. 10:36, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
Is there still a functioning Russian Uncy on Wikia? If there is, that might be problematic for the links... --Mn-z 13:51, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
You know how Wikia does things... they're doubtfully going to take it down. Probably won't even admit the folks moved. ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) (stalk) -- 20101009 - 14:09 (UTC)
Already. The usurpation started, VSTF and the Staff had come. — Praetorian the Glorious Strategist. 20:06, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
Unfortunately, we really can't tell if there is a "real community" remaining on the wiki or not. I'm not taking Wikia' side, but we have had some issues with UnMeta trying to stir up unneeded drama with our webhost. --Mn-z 20:39, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
You may easily check this. Here is the voting: 19 active users signed it (they did 56k edits together). Two opposers (well, per their comment, they opposed just for fun) are already registered on absurdopedia.net and did several edits there. Noone of active users edits a copy (not including several vandal edits, right?). We're the real community and we are really in need for your support. Otherwise there would be interwikis to an abandoned copy here, 'just for giving Wikia some more money', and our project will be considered "not real Uncyc". This is against Uncyclopedia spirit, interwikis should link to the place where there is a community that built it. We're not some commercial organization like UnMeta, we're the real authors that worked on Absurdopedia for years. Edwardtalk 21:37, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
That does look in order. However, Wikia is under no obligation to delete the wiki, due to how the licensing system is set up. The "community" does not "own" the project any sense: each person owns his particular contributions, in so far as they are owned by anyone at all. (I.e. the contributions are licensed under a copy-left system, some edits are un-ownable by nature.)
But getting back on topic, I think the web-link should be updated if the Wikia absurdopedia becomes effectively dead. If it remains reasonably active, however, that would make changing the web-link problematic. We could try linking to both wikis, like how carlb's wikis link to 2 German wikis.
Of course, they should have never linked to the other German wiki, since its more of an illogicopedia and the German wikia Uncy. opposed the dual linking, but I digress. Anyway, negotiating these issues is a sensitive topic, since we don't want Carlb's wiki's to "break communion" with all of the Wikia wikis. Btw, you might want to talk to UnMeta about updating there interwiki links. --Mn-z 01:06, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
1. No, there won't be any future work on Wikia's copy. The random vandals are the only activity there. All active authors are with us. 2. I've contacted UnMeta. UnMeta has already changed the interwikis from the Wikia copy to us. Currently it's up to Uncyclopedias on Wikia to request the same modification of the interwikis. Edwardtalk 19:09, October 14, 2010 (UTC)

By the way, Wikia's copy was locked (indefinitely, I suppose). That's good, they won't maintain the interlanguage links on a locked site. — Praetorian the Glorious Strategist. 07:36, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

It's official:

The Russian Uncyclopedia leaves you. *sigh*  Avast Matey!!! Happytimes are here!* Happytimes.gif (talk) (stalk) Π   ~ Xkey280.jpg ~  11 Oct 2010 ~ 06:30 (UTC)
Note: That was a joke. I have no idea if it's official or not. (sorry.)  Avast Matey!!! Happytimes are here!* Happytimes.gif (talk) (stalk) Π   ~ Xkey280.jpg ~  12 Oct 2010 ~ 05:54 (UTC)

That's the answer from the Staff? Argh. — Praetorian the Glorious Strategist. 17:46, October 11, 2010 (UTC)
Are you guys still writing and editing on your site? The only admin who's posted here was that spinning star guy, and that was awhile ago, so I don't know what's officialunofficial or a game of spin the bottle. I'd vote, if there is a vote, to link to your site as long as it's still active, although I've never personally looked at it. Does the change hurt your number of hits in Russia and outlying states? I wish you luck and black bread. Aleister 18:03 11 10
Yeah, we're quite active. All active authors are with us, and Wikia's copy has marauder vandals left only. On your second question: yes, we had 7000 unique visitors per day before, and currently (when Wikia removed a sitenotice about our moving) we have only 1000 from the search engines. Interwikis could help. Edwardtalk 19:04, October 14, 2010 (UTC)
If you want to know what a wiki site looks like after it's abandoned by a community, check the sad state of wackypedia. This is the ex-home for illogicopedia. It still exists but it has become like an abandoned house for vandals. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 08:24, October 15, 2010 (UTC)
