Just for future reference[edit | edit source]

You can change anything of mine without telling/asking me. I really don't mind and odds are it will say the same thing but look prettier and/or easier to read. I tend to be a jack of all trades, master of bate none...and also, I tend to be lazy. I can make something already good a little better but doing what you do takes more effort. But by all means ask me to add/change something of yours I'd be happy to. -- – Mahroww a.k.a. Paddington D. Shufflebotham  06:36, 24 February 2006 (UTC) BTW.. 62.240.165.30 is a Czech. Rep. IP (brejcha.cust.sloane.cz) running at 500kbps even. heh! hi todd

Gotcha. And you can always count on those Czech Republic guys! The amazing thing is that if Making up Cthulhu quotes does get featured, apparently it would be the first "Making up quotes" page to actually make it. And all this at a time when the future of the whole franchise is completely up in the air... Ah well, such is the nature of publicly-editable comedy writing. Btw, I should do something extra-special nice for Rataube... More than just an anagram, maybe (RATAUBE = AREA TUB; THE WORLD OF RATAUBE = BEWARE, THOU FAT LORD, and USER:RATAUBE = TRUE USA BEAR). Hmm... Anyway, t'anks 'n' later, --Some user 07:02, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Making up Cthulhu quotes got featured! You're on a roll! CONGRATULATIONS!  Now you have a WotM nom and people will expect more out of you. -- – Mahroww a.k.a. Paddington D. Shufflebotham  22:44, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Added another image to the Quote/UNQuote. Bit too similar to the ones you've done though..... -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)

Article suggestion[edit | edit source]

With recent events on Wikipedia, this needs an article written around it. I would but then I might have to think about the issue and I'm having to do quite enough of that - David Gerard 23:18, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

So, you're thinking in terms of an article like Wiki Dating Services or Wikipersonal Advertising? That might work! I'm flattered that you would think of me to write such a piece. By the way, I couldn't help looking elsewhere in that URL... So you're into Aussie-Indie stuff like The Church, The Triffids, maybe the Saints & Ed Kuepper, then? Do you remember The Monarchs? (I have pretty much everything The Church ever released, I think.) And you play bass! We should start a club, though it's been a long time since I played with other people. Of course, now I'm starting to be guilty of precisely the sort of socializing you were presumably referring to. --Some user 23:58, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
WikiJournal or MySpacePedia? "Emopedia" is a lot of the way there. And yes, I'm an internationally renowned expert on Australian '80s indie rock. (I actually am.) And a third of a ton of vinyl records are on their way from Perth to London after my brother moved into a smaller house and had to get the hell rid of them. Oh boy. - David Gerard 06:48, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
Ahh, I see, more of an account of how socially-inept young folks are using Wikipedia as a substitute for useless blogs and such. Okay, I can see that. Btw, do you subscribe to The Big Takeover? I've got to remember to renew soon! --Some user 06:57, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Prettiestanagrams[edit | edit source]

What? huh? do an anagram for me? All I got was PetSmart Dr., yet petite -- – Mahroww a.k.a. Paddington D. Shufflebotham  07:17, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

That's Dame Prettiestpretty. For that you could also get Pete's Dirty Pet Matter, Tried pretty tame pets, and my tapered tit petters. But the last one wouldn't be advisible for mixed company... Nor would Typer's tit-petter. And Petty PR tire test doesn't sound very nice either, so there you go. Of course, I've had longer to think about this one! --Some user 07:29, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
PS. Rough draft.
Yeah I thought that may be a little overkill...thanks again. First the Polar bears and now this...you're just like a big brother watching over out for me. Platypus.PNG-- – Mahroww a.k.a. Paddington D. Shufflebotham  07:49, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
No problem! IMHO a few entries are OK, but when we start being show-offy with the anagrams and such, that'll probably get 'em riled up a bit. And you're right, we'll have to think of a good place to put that platypus. I don't think Divine Platypus is the place for it... --Some user 14:31, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
Heh, you just had to show off didn't ya? It's fairly good and all but if you bothered to look at this you'd have maybe thought of a better one.  :) Nothing like dueling anagrams is there? OH, AND I HAD A GOOD IDEA FOR AN ARTICLE ON CAPITAL PUNISHMENT. I WENT TO JUST ADD MY IDEA TO THE EXISTING PAGE...AND I GOT NOTHING. SIGH...ANOTHER ARTICLE THAT I WILL HAVE TO START AND MAYBE GET YOU TO FINISH. HEH, ACTUALLY I WILL TRY NOT TO BE SO LAZY AND JUST RELY ON YOU. OBVIOUSLY I CAN DO IT MYSELF AND YOU'RE DOING SUCH A GOOD JOB ELSEWHERE. ANYWAY, BACK TO THE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT. IT'LL BE A FUNNY TWIST ON WORDS, MAYBE HAVE SOME NOOB REFERENCES IN IT...ETC. I'LL SAVE THE SURPRISE FOR LATER. -- – Mahroww a.k.a. Paddington D. Shufflebotham  03:54, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Image in sig[edit | edit source]

Some user, how I do the trick of image links for pages? I paste the code of your sig, but I can't make! Do you can help me? -- The Joker 18:15, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

QuickVFD and you[edit | edit source]

Hiya, Some user. Thanks for using QuickVFD to bring redirects left behind from a move to our attention. It is very much the correct way to deal with things. However, if you choose to add a bit of background information, please make sure it's accurate. I just got yelled at, beaten and stabbed for deleting your Hippy-redirect, because APPARENTLY some user (note the pun there) DIDN'T fix all the links afterall! So, unless you're willing to stain your hands with my blood, be careful what you QuickVFD. Oh, and don't drink and drive neither... Thanks! --~ sin($) tan() 05:20, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

They yelled at you for that? Those bastards! I think it was only on some talk pages - I'd fixed the template, and I didn't notice any references in the other articles, but I'll check again. Sorry about that! --Some user 06:32, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

They also beat and stabbed me... But you don't care about that, now do you! Ah well... I'm not touching it again, anyways. But before I go and lick my wounds, here's a wee tip: Use the "What links here" thing in the toolbox (to the right) if you want to be thorough. --~ sin($) tan() 06:38, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
The right? Mine's on the left. My God. The doctor said there might be hallucinations, but I didn't take him seriously. It was only cough medicine. Experimental, mind you, but throroughly tested on chimpanzees. ~ T. (talk) 11:21, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
My dear Todd, think before you say something next time... My right is his left, durr... *rolls eyes* --~ sin($) tan() 11:29, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, I don't know about you guys, but I'm using WikiMedia's new "3D Virtual Immersion" skin now, so my "What links here" is actually just over my head, and slightly askew to the northeast. Anyway, after all that, the article's back on VFD again anyway! C'est la vie. --Some user 14:16, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Oh, my God, look what I discovered...[edit | edit source]

OK, so I was watching the talking heads programs on Sunday morning (Buddy took the kids to see his parents) and Time magazine columnist Margaret Carlson was on and I got to thinking that she reminded me of Margaret from the really old Dennis the Menace program. So I went looking for two images for Separated at birth. Then I find this image of Carlson with Chris Matthews (Hardball) and then I find an old Dennis the Menace publicity shot and the clouds opened, the angels wept and God shot down a lightning bolt and I was enlightened and we get a two-fer! I know, my epiphany is not your catharsis, but I thought you get a chuckle never the less. Dame PPsigPPlips.gifGUN PotY WotM 2xPotM 17xVFH VFP Poo PMS •YAP• 13:57, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

It's brilliant! Probably the best one yet, and easily Spy quality, with a TrumpScore™ of less than 0.0001, no question. But I'm going to have to fix that spelling again! I'll try to come up with some others, if I think of any... Also, I have this nagging fear that someone may try to make you merge that with a "competing" page. That might be unfortunate. Nice work on Snidely, by the way! --Some user 00:50, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks[edit | edit source]

Thanks for putting some polish on the HowTo:Survive a Robot Uprising page. The how-to graphic and footnote are nice touches. You're really some user. Thx. Bone F clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 02:02, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

You're welcome! Oh, and while I've got your attention, is there any chance of "QuoteUnquote:" ever being renamed to "Unquotable:"? If it ever makes it onto the main page (to replace "The Wilde Project" or even the Uncyclopedia link itself, which to me seems redundant), then it seems like it would fit better if then name started with "Un." Just a suggestion.  c • > • cunwapquc? 02:06, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Well, I really don't know...back when we made it up, there was some discussion on the name...what it came down to was that "Unquote" had a bunch of votes, but using "QuoteUnquote" was a sly way to say "Uncyclopedia-quotes", rather than coming right out and saying "We're making quotes up!!!!!". There was a vote on what the name should be - "QuoteUnquote" had some good votes, and I personally thought that it was sly enough that we could get away without everyone figuring out right away that the quotes were all fake.
My dream was to make a really good fake of wikiquote, and move away from the hordes of "making up $x quotes" pages. I kinda like "Unquotable", but QuoteUnquote has a little momentum, so my preference is to run with it. If it takes off, and we need to rename it, it shouldn't be a problem to get Carlb to let Hymie take a run at it, and do it all up automagically. I think I'm apathetic, but I don't really care enough to figure it out. Bone F clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 02:44, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Okey-dokey, fair enough! No big deal (or rush) in any case. (And thanks for replying.)  c • > • cunwapquc? 02:50, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

QuoteUnquote:William Shatner[edit | edit source]

Feel free to get out the smeghammer and beat some goodness into this one. I had no idea what to do, even after reading the help documentation. The quotes are basically slight variations of actual phrases, some taken out of context, others completely verbatim (scary...). The Plato quote at the top could be easily wiped for something better. I just liked its simple association with spaceflight, the philosopher king theory, and the notion that Shatner might rip off anything for one of his Tek books. As you wrote somewhere, none of it is sacred, so I hope it can be fixed into something decent. It's just that I happened upon your Shatner quote on the Main Page, but saw no associated article. ~ T. (talk) 03:10, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Give yourself some credit, Todd! The formatting is perfect, I thought the material was great, and I've never been much of a Star Trek fan either. Obviously it's hard to get the trademark hammed-up vocal inflection of "You... Klingon bastards... you... killed my son!" in textual form, but I think you've shown that it isn't necessary, which impressed me quite a bit, actually. Anyway, I'm not limiting myself on the random quotes... The "joke" there (if you can call it one) is that all of the random quotes are actually quotes about randomness. Although a couple of them, including that one, really aren't.
One other thing: I'd like to get permission to operate a known sock puppet called QUAKK, the explanation for which you may have already seen. Or if permission isn't necessary, then consider this a heads-up. Anyway, thanks, and who knows, maybe I will come up with something for "Shat" to say one of these days!  c • > • cunwapquc? 03:25, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
