Recently I have (well, actually AAA!) Noticed a few problems with the UGotM. To put it simply, The people who are really eligable for UGotM (namely me, Starnestommy and metropolis) Are banned before theyt get the chance to win the award. This may seem obvious, but the current rules state that "You cannot have been banned for more than a day in the previous month to be eligable for UGotM" This, as proposed by AAA! should be changed permanently to "You cannot have been banned for more than a day in the previous month to be eligable for UGotM, but if you were nommed before you were banned you are still eligable. You cannot win UGotM, however if the ban extends until after the month you were nommed has passed."

If this had been done earlier, favoured UGotM nominees who were banned for more than a day (ie Me, Starnestommy and Metropolis )would have been eligable for the award.

  1. For - Definetly.--Small Pineapple2.png» >ZEROTROUSERS!!! EAT ME!!!! CRAZY PERSON! SMELLY!!! ILLOGIC, BEHOLD!!!!~» 20:52, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
  2. For - I could have won if it weren't for that block. --Starnestommy (TalkContribsFFSWP) 02:42, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
  3. Strong For - All the great deservers would've won it then. Metropolis, Starnestommy, Zerotrousers, etc. Without this rule it makes winning almost impossible, because most gobshites will get blocked sooner or later after they were nommed. I had to nominate Metropolis nearly 3 times for this award thanks to that rule. Also, if you look back, their scores were really high (+7, +9, etc), then bam. Ineligable. This also pissed off some people aswell, like this edit. And other winners have also been banned, like Nintendorulez, Flameviper, etc. --AAA! (AAAA) 07:29, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
  4. For. This issue has come up before, and no doubt will come up again. Often the most deserving of this award push things a little too far and end up with a ban. I think it was a flaw from the beginning, and this gives us a chance to resolve it. I believe if we change the rule it will also mean that the people who should be getting the award get it, rather than those that WANT it. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me) 10:55, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

  1. Not so much. --Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 21:09, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
  2. I think the whole idea of the award is that it goes to people who manage to be gobshites without getting banned. That is quite an achievement. Icons-flag-au.png Sir Cs1987 UOTM. t. c 02:40, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
  3. Alright, now maybe I'm completly wacko and out of left field here, but UGotM isn't a serious award. I mean, it's a joke. It's just a way that the community says "Hey, we love you Zombiebaron" on a monthly basis, for reasons nobody fully understands. In the past there have been some real hozers nominated for UGotM who didn't deserve to be forever imortalised along with the names of the king of rock'n'roll. So yah, the answer to this and everthing else that you've complained about on my talk page, Zerotrousers, is "Yellow". -- The Zombiebaron 04:11, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
  4. They're doing WHAT at the miniluv?! I mean.. Like Cs said, "I think the whole idea of the award is that it goes to people who manage to be gobshites without getting banned." —Braydie 07:46, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
  5. As per that handsome unshaven guy before me. What was his bloody name? Estel? ~Jewriken.GIF 12:06, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
  6. Per everyone else. Let us not go there. It is a silly award. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 19:11, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

I seriously don't understand why is it so important for you to receive a UGotM. ~Jewriken.GIF 11:55, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Because he wants it bad. --General Insineratehymn 11:59, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
I do want UGotM, but i'm also standing up for Starnestommy and Metropolis who were favoured by the voters.--Small Pineapple2.png» >ZEROTROUSERS!!! EAT ME!!!! CRAZY PERSON! SMELLY!!! ILLOGIC, BEHOLD!!!!~» 20:33, 4 April 2007 (UTC) I WANT! I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT!!!!!

If you want UGotM, then you should probably just leave. Come back when you're all grown up. We need funny people, not UGotM wannabes. --Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 12:48, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you, Modusoperandi, I totally agree with your advice. I now see the flaws in the way that I was living, and I will never return to Uncyc again. Because really, Useless Gobshite of the month isn't a satirical award at all, it's a completely serious one. After all, Braydie and Zombiebaron have won the award, and we all know how useless and gobshitey they were.--Small Pineapple2.png» >ZEROTROUSERS!!! EAT ME!!!! CRAZY PERSON! SMELLY!!! ILLOGIC, BEHOLD!!!!~» 20:37, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes. Of course. Me and Zb are the most useless/gobshite people on this site. —Braydie 20:45, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
*sigh*. I mean you should try to write, rather than try to earn an "award" that most people try to avoid (how many times have I said this, anyway?). --Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 20:49, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, it depends if you're counting that time you were drunk in that field, you said it about 400 times that night. —Braydie 20:53, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
You call it "drunk in a field". I call it "Tuesday". --Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 20:55, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Haha. That's the kinda thing we should be doing on this site, making other people laugh, not going out trying to win awards - of course, if you happen to get an award because of it.. But especially not UGotM. —Braydie 20:58, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Exactly. --Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 21:09, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

My "other" vote stands for Nobody cares. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 12:50, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Plus a poll doesn't work. Change of IP means you can vote again. —Braydie 20:45, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Done--Small Pineapple2.png» >ZEROTROUSERS!!! EAT ME!!!! CRAZY PERSON! SMELLY!!! ILLOGIC, BEHOLD!!!!~» 20:53, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
heheheh. That gives me an idea...--Small Pineapple2.png» >ZEROTROUSERS!!! EAT ME!!!! CRAZY PERSON! SMELLY!!! ILLOGIC, BEHOLD!!!!~» 20:47, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Comment: Sure, it says the whole "can't be banned" thingy in the rules. The thing is, the rules have already been ignored on three seperate occasions, and that's the ones I can think of offhand.

But I'd like to point out that GotM is sorta annoying. If it were me, I'd make it so that it weren't awarded a template like it currently is; it would just be confined to UN:UGotM. That way, it'd be a bit more lighthearted than it currently is. —Major Sir Hinoa prepare for troublemake it double? 18:53, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
