Don't believe me? Check out Special:UserRights. What used to be a lovely little message informing you you're not special enough to view the page has been replaced by a single check box labeled "administrator". Of course, once you deop yourself, you're doomed until an active 'crat reops you.

Two questions:

  1. When did this become a thing, and
  2. Why is it a thing?

This wasn't the case like a week ago.  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 08:39 Jul 27, 2011

I wouldn't know. In a related vein, have 'crats always been able to decrat themselves? Sir SockySexy girls.jpg Mermaid with dolphin.jpg Tired Marilyn Monroe.jpg (talk) (stalk)Magnemite.gif Icons-flag-be.png GUN SotM UotM PMotM UotYPotM WotM 08:58, 27 July 2011
Yeah they have for a while. ~Sir Frosty (Talk to me!) Proudly bogan 09:00, July 27, 2011 (UTC)
Yes. They couldn't always make other crats though, nor hand out bot flags. That's all (relatively) new.  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 09:02 Jul 27, 2011
To answer your 2nd question, probably because Wikia likes to change stuff around for no apparent reason. I'd guess it might be because wikia was getting requests from admins on "minor" wikis to be de-opped, and decided to add that feature to save staff resources. --Mn-z 01:53, July 28, 2011 (UTC)
