PPC[edit source]
I noticed that you blanked the entire article entitled PPC. I'm not going to report you, because I know it was in good faith, but you must know that doing things like that can get you banned. If you think something is entirely stupid and doesn't deserve to live, then post it on VFD. There you can have a democratic vote, and if enough are for the deletion than an admin will actually remove the article from the site, instead of just blanking. Anyway, thanks for your help on the removal of crap on those other articles, keep it up! t o m p k i n s blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 07:27, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, well, as for the racial slurs and such, we get alot fo those. It's hard to keep track of every single edit made, and therefore little things like that tend to slip by more than they should. Uncyclopedia has often been criticized on Wikipedia - and other wikis - as allowing Racism and Anti-Semetism to flow freely throughout our pages, however, this is wrong. After all, wikipedia was the one that didn't notice the bias being inserted into certain congressional articles. Anyway, that's why it's good to have people that look through article and shape them up a little bit, it does wonders for our image.
- Now, as far as Reasons to become an atheist goes.. well, there's alot of history. When the article was first published, there were several edit wars and lots of yelling between users. Unfortunately, all of this happened shortly before I got here, so I'm still a little unclear on the complete history. Anyway, it is my knowledge that those objecting to the article have since left the site, and that the consensus of those who remained to leave the article as is. This said, your edits are mostly in good nature, and I will let them stand. If an admin or another user disagrees with this view I will of course let them take the matter into their own hands. The edits before yours were reverted because it was my feeling that the user was trying to change the tone of the article, and disrupt what peace it once had.
- Ok, well, once again, thanks for all of your hard work, and... I'll talk to you soon. t o m p k i n s blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 21:01, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
- As someone who had a front-row seat in the Reasons to become an atheist saga, I can tell you that it started because of sour grapes and survived because of the same, but two different parties were involved. It was first started because one user's edits kept getting rolled back on the Reasons not to be a devout Christian page. When he complained, people told him to make his own page, so he did. Only he made it as biased toward Christianity as the other article was against it. I personally thought that idea was very funny, but it was poorly executed, and he was would revert ANYONE'S attempt to improve the quality.
- Well, then later someone took real offense to how he was bashing atheists. This led to a major edit war, several VFH AND VFD postings, and eventually to the offended user getting banned because he refused to accept that a pro-Christian page could ever possibly be funny (since he had, upon losing the argument, reverted to trolling). Then, we fixed up the page and made it funnier, though, once again, the original author reverted almost everything we did.
- The idea behind the article is an attempt to make pro-Christian humor funny, and that's why it seems so anti-atheist (as well as anti-a-lot-of-other-things). If Tomp hadn't reverted your edit, when the author of it got back, he would have. That's the story behind it, anyway. I personally think having a blatantly pro-Christian page selling Atheism is hilarious, but I realize a lot of the things in it were highly offensive. Just be prepared for an edit war when the author returns.--<<>> 22:09, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
- And there you have it, well done brad. Anyway, yeah removing unfunny stuff is usually acceptable, and it helps when you metion what your doing in the subject (which you have been.) However, if someone reverts what you did, don't take too much offense, edit wars are kind of discouraged around here... kind of. And, as always, use discretion, removing to much might appear as a partial balnking, and could result in bans. t o m p k i n s blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 22:42, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
