At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but it certainly is a fun and easy way to express your creativity. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Clensedsource/Article about stuff) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template - {{construction}} - onto it as well.
If you want to write and don't know where to begin, consider contributing to Uncyclopedia's current colonization of the week, a group writing project to improve a single popular article. Anyone is welcome to contribute, so come help out!
If the current colonization doesn't suit your fancy, then browse our rewrite and idea categories. We have lots of articles just sitting around for someone to improve, so don't be afraid - dive right in!
If you need help, ask me on my talk page, ask at the Dump, or ask an administrator on their talk page. Additionally, the Uncyclopedian Adopt-a-Noob program is there to bring experienced editors straight to you. Simply leave a message on an adopter's talkpage to join. Again, welcome! --Sycamore (Talk) 17:53, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Article[edit source]
Hi there, the ICU on your article expired, so I moved it here, to your userspace. It can sit there without fear of deletion while you work on it. What I would suggest is having a look at the HowTo portal, and browsing some of the recently featured HowTo pages - click the edit button on those pages, and you'll see how they have been formatted. Apply some formatting to your page - add some headers, an image or two, the HowTo template etc - and it will look more like an article. Then go get yourself a pee review, which should give you some pointers on how to improve the writing. Putting a request for help on the article's talk page won't always get noticed, but a review request will eventually get picked up. Then, when you think the article's finished, have a word with me and we can move it back to the mainspace. Good luck! --UU - natter 08:57, May 26
Hello[edit source]
I hope my review was okay. I'm not an experienced reviewer, so it's nice to know you appreciated it. Anyway, about it not being your first article, that's cool. Fixing up ICUs is a great thing to do, even more helpful than starting new articles. You have done a good job. On another note, when you are on people's talk pages, don't forget to sign using four tildes (these things: ~). Apart from that, enjoy your time on the site, whether you improve articles, write new ones, review, proofread, whatever...Bye! Nameable • mumble? 10:38, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
