Third-wave feminism[edit source]

Anyone want to take a gander? Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 07:50, November 13, 2009 (UTC)

Humour: 9 (As always, please discount my numeric grades.) This is my kind of article, not a flight of fancy but a clever description of something in the real world that is ridiculous on its own, though made more ridiculous by the narrator's willingness to misunderstand the obvious. Extra credit for ridiculing Political Correctness. Feminism is flailing, is going to free-agency, in many ways; I'm not sure yours is an exhaustive list, probably not; but each of your topics illustrates something, and at the end of the day, it's part of the same phenomenon. The prose is sometimes dry and academic, though it makes its ironic point in due time. A little more effort might produce clever phrasings. Think about whether you really want to keep: (1) the chatty tone regarding "bitch" in the intro, and (2) The Mr-Haney-from-Green-Acres dithering with which Section 1.1 ends. Last paragraph of the intro is observing the same thing as the last paragraph of 1.1, and probably doesn't belong in the intro.
Concept: 9 See above.
Prose and formatting: 8 Is there an alternative to numbering your Waves, or is "third-wave" feminism an established term? The term "third-wave" is not direct to me; it challenges my mind to reassemble a formal wave-numbering scheme. It strikes me as less academic to just say "old" and "new," perhaps with "'Eighties" to describe the second wave.
Images: 8 The images are a tour de force. The captions are wry and to smile at; not quite to laugh out loud at.
Miscellaneous: 8 The Table of Contents comprises three aspects of an alleged societal trend, and then a single "movement." What about the Roller Derby "movement," mentioned in the intro and then ignored? There is the "back-to-the-home" movement, the concept that the real stereotype-breaking thing for women to do is break the new stereotypes and go back to live inside the old ones. Nothing is missing; it's just that there are probably several other things you could call a movement, and flog this excellent nag for a bit longer.
