The Leek Bun[edit source]
I was watching an episode of Sonic X and...well...it inspired me to make this article (along with some support from the IRC channel). I think this is one of my best works (next to Mahogany). Admiral Enzo Aquarius-Dial the Gate 23:22, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Humour: | 2 | Let's be honest here. You may argue that I am just a bit too old to actually enjoy anything Sonic-related, but to me this article of yours really kind of hangs at the rock-bottom of the humour scale. To sum up what is wrong with it, let me just kindly point out the reason, namely, the picture containing the punchline. Sonic X reference aside, I don't really see any convincing development from the rest of the article that leads to this "leek bun" thing. On top of that, the picture itself is a frame from yet another completely different joke based on a completely different scenario and premise. This is essentially "Mahogany" with lots of words, or a variant of the ancient art of Monkey Cheese, which is always a big "no" in my book. Hence, 2 out of 10 is simply the best I can give you in this part of the ratings, but hold your tears, because the worst is yet to come. |
Concept: | 1 | When I think of the word "concept", I always picture in my head a very elaborate plan drawn on a large piece of paper. Having a concept essentially means setting proper boundaries and limits, strategically placing useful devices in positions that are advantageous to the broad scheme of things, and so forth. In other words, concept means plan. What I see, however, is nothing more than two pieces of unrelated material stapled together to give the illusion of a real article. If you think self-congratulation is not the worst in all human weaknesses, then think again. The second paragraph of the article points its readers to what is expected, namely, the fabled "leek bun". So as the article leads them through a jungle of fast-food chain references, any person with two bits of intelligence ought to know the main subject will invariably emerge somewhere in the setting as the ultimate climax. But, then, at the end of the day, it is nothing more than some random person yelling at the drive-through, and that when the article calls it quits. Even when the dreaded Dane Cook gave his discourse about someone yelling at a Burger King drive-through, at least he had the courtesy to keep the agonisingly mundane experience within the confine of a few mere sentences so to increase the overall value of the story. This article shows no such courtesy. On the contrary, it holds the arrogant expectation that readers will laugh with it over a long string of uninteresting events that will simply all boil down to an utterly irrelevant Sonic qoute that may not be even worth a cheapshot 3-dollar ringtone. If that's what can be called a "concept", then so can be a three-car pile-up. |
Prose and formatting: | 6 | I personally don't like main space article written as a narrative, but since that's likely not the case for many other Uncyclopedians here, I give you a 6 for this part of the ratings. |
Images: | 1 | Yep, "The Leek Bun". It's not like "The Sunflowers", "The Mona Lisa", or "The Scream", if you get my drift. |
Miscellaneous: | 2.5 | Averaged. |
Final Score: | 12.5 | The humour is weak and lacks a solid underlying concept. The article relies too much on the shock-and-awe factor of a single picture despite that it displays no such value saving in the eyes of devout Sonic fans. The article also desperately needs high school education. |
