The Geico Gecko[edit source]

OK, but prepare yourself, this won't be pretty. Sorry!

Humour: 1 Sorry, there is none. It's completely random. Random doesn't do well here.
Concept: 1 Again, what's the concept here? A gecko that forced Mustaine out of Metallica? How? Why? And how does any of the other stuff in the article connect together? Honestly, this might be more suited to illogicopedia.
Prose and formatting: 4 Well, there aren't many spelling mistakes, and the wiki formatting is OK. But it's 3 unstructured paragraphs with overlong sentences. Also, a Gecko is a lizard, not a serpent. And reading it is no fun because it's so random and doesn't make any sense!
Images: 3 There is one, and it is of a Gecko. That's relevant, I suppose.
Miscellaneous: 1 This is extremely miscellaneous.
Final Score: 10 Honestly, this is the kind of thing that gets deleted around here. That's not a personal attack - it's a fact. Go have a look at VFD to see what I mean. Then have a look at HTBFANJS to get advice about what will make an article survive. I've made some comments below, because I always do, but seriously, I don't expect this to last long in its current state.

Right, start with the concept: get one. That's a coherent idea that the whole article will follow. Then follow it. And stick to it. Don't just write a lot of un-connected random stuff, as it's not funny.

Then, write something that flows. That means the occasional line break - each section doesn't have to be just a paragraph, breaking them up makes them easy to read.

Finally, I recommend having a look at some of the recent highlighted articles. Go to the front page, have a look at the current feature and the last few. See how they have a concept, a structure, flow quite well, and have some jokes? That's what you're aiming for. Go to it!

Finally, this is just my opinion, and if you don't like it others are available. But I think you're lucky I got to this review before Manforman did - he's hardcore!

Good luck! --Sir Under User (Hi, How Are You?) VFH KUN 10:09, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
