This template is broken[edit source]
This template is broken in several ways.
- The image parameter is not working, breaking pages such as Hydrogen.
- Unconfigurable links. I don't want to link deg C to Cheese or deg F to Fucking (totally unrelated) but the links can't be removed.
- "Strength" is "Boiling point", "Weakness" is "Appearance", and "Isotopes" displays as "Specifications", etc. (See source)
- Also, "There are more ways to customize this template than are documented." Wow so helpful...
Can someone please fix this? I can't disentangle the braces in the source code. EmulsifiedExcuse (talk) 16:09, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah i can’t either. And reverting it to the 2011 version causes some problems too, like there not being an image size limit or anything like that.

- And it's so badly documented. Well, maybe we should just add a notice on its page saying something like "This template is broken/deprecated, do not use", lest this thing confuse yet another naive editor. EmulsifiedExcuse (talk) 16:34, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

- OK. Also note that this template is only used on 12 pages, so it's probably easier to write a new one from scratch than to navigate Template:Info/Science, as any incompatiablity issue can easily be tracked down and fixed. EmulsifiedExcuse (talk) 16:25, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
- Nevermind, i got the old version working. It just had the stuff that closes the template placed in a bad spot. 16:03, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

It seems to function normally, but I've also noticed some glitches. For example, it parses the image with this code: [[image:{{{symbol}}}-TableImage.png]], which bugs out Hydrogen when the page is loading.
So over the last month I've made a new template from scratch at Template:Elementdata/New. There's an example usage in my User:EmulsifiedExcuse/sandbox. Now my idea is to merge the two templates, keeping the existing parameters and adding proper image parsing (as well as styling).
