Talk:Webster Transitional School
You (or you two) have considerable ability in English and in coding an Uncyclopedia article. But I want to warn you that articles about "what I think about the cliques at my middle school" all tend to be pulled toward a date with destiny at our Votes For Deletion page. I have no particular authority on Uncyclopedia, but my two cents is to suggest that you apply your skills to a subject that people care about. Spıke ¬ 00:43 12-Mar-10
- I do not believe that this is a page about "what I think about the cliques at my school". In fact most of these "cliques" are made up. Yes, we have a considerable amount of Call of Duty players at our school, which gives us the source for our humor. It is not as funny to completely make stuff up as it is to twist the truth, as stated in HTBFANJS. I guess you just do not think our humor is interesting enough. I thought you might consider the Cedarburg page, and how that really only applies to a few more people in the world than Webster Transitional School. Obviously, this is a article that was just started and will be revised by us and others as needed. I suggest you give it time and have a few more opinions on it. --Billobob 20:50, March 15, 2010 (UTC) P.S. This is also the first article I've made or edited, and I did not want to do something stupid on a major article.
Ah, so you even read UN:HTBFANJS, very good! But how do the substantially 100% of Uncyclopedia readers who would not be caught dead in Cedarburg know the difference between twisting the facts and making stuff up?! Don't you think you could make a dent in the interminable lists in the article on Wisconsin? Spıke ¬ 01:59 14-Mar-10
- Look, I'm not trying to argue with you here. I'm just saying that if you haven't been to Cedarburg or heard of it, the situation is the exact same thing as the situation on this page. In fact, this can be used with any article anywhere. If I had not heard of China then how would I know that that stuff is twisting the truth? I wouldn't. So basically all you're saying is that no one has heard of Webster Transitional School, and although that is true it is true with many, many other articles. --Billobob 20:50, March 15, 2010 (UTC)
Indeed, that is all I am saying. China is well-known and is fair game for satire. Cedarburg and its middle school are not. The article is not uniquely irrelevant, but the process doesn't require that people hold their fire until every less-relevant article goes first. I'm not ready to nominate your article for deletion, because it's done competently, but I feel someone will, and suggest you work on something of general interest. Spıke ¬ 21:54 15-Mar-10
Spike, I am sorry, but I have come to have a grudge against you. You want to delete this article, even though there are at least 5 times more worse articles than this one, just because you stumbled upon it. So, I have to point out, I am a much better arguer than you. Your arguments make little sense; mine are legitimate and sound like someone defending something, not just some random person wanting to delete an article just for the heck of it. Billobob 03:20, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
- Stating your case on VFD, as you both have now done, is the correct response. Forming grudges--and especially announcing them--never is. Telling an adult you are a much better arguer is another technique that will never serve you well in later life. The falsehood of this statement is now in the record. I complimented your skills and made only one claim against your article: that it is, unavoidably, not of general interest. I lost an article too--on Peruvian slang--guess why. Spıke ¬ 11:14 26-Mar-10
- I am quite insulted by your talking down to me. If you would like the truth, I am a 27 year old teacher at Webster and have good relationships with the kids in the school. I play Call of Duty and sometimes talk with the kids about it. So, I wish you would STOP MAKING ASSUMPTIONS as Loopygrumpkins has asked you to. Plus--again--your statements are quite invalid. It does not matter if I tell people that I have a grudge against them--and very often this helps to solve the problem. So I wish you would STOP MAKING ASSUMPTIONS and INVALID POINTS and actually work with me here. Billobob 22:12, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
Deletion[edit source]
I don't understand exactly why this article has been nominated for deletion. Could someone explain in detail exactly why? Loopygrumpkins 02:28, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
- In response to my own question, I would just like to state that I appears that the main reason for this article being nominated for deletion are assumptions. The first vote for deletion seems to have been triggered solely by a new section being added. The proposer seems to have made the assumption that "CADMIUM!" is some sort of an inside joke at the school; which it is not. On the note of vanity: There was a Wikipedia page devoted entirly to the school, before it was combined with an article on the Cedarburg School District, which talks about all of the Cedarburg Schools and it has 11,900 Google finds with parenthesis around the name. Also, the main reason for its deletion would, based on what was said in "delete" votes, seem to be that it's quality is up to par, but doesn't that mean that it could improved? I propose instead of condemning this article to deletion, some of the people who want to see it deleted should try to improve it. I believe that if people who know nothing about the school at all contributed to the article, it could be funnier because they might not have the bias that Billobob or myself may have. Loopygrumpkins 02:01, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
- In brief, it's on VFD because it looks like an in-joke. If "CADMIUM!" is not an in-joke, pray tell, how is it funny? As I said on VFD, you can't really expect anyone else to contribute if they have no knowledge of the source material. What would they write about? The Leprechaun Invasion of 1912? Check out HTBFANJS and think about how to make this look like less of a joke between your friends. --Pleb SYNDROME CUN medicate (butt poop!!!!) 02:48, March 27, 2010 (UTC)
- I only voted to delete it because it's a school article. Ever hear of UN:CM? Has Codeine's mum heard of this school? Probably not. This would normally go on QVFD, but it's well-written enough to go to VFD instead. 23:48, March 28, 2010 (UTC)
