From, um, here[edit source]

Sorry about this - the article that was here wasn't nearly as bad as much of the stuff here, but after much deliberation, this seemed like the best thing to do. If you don't like it, revert and I won't mind. --monika 18:34, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Oh yeah, I should mention I'm rewriting this to be a stand-alone article again. --monika 02:43, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Done --monika 07:00, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

From VFH[edit source]

  • comment Both the above votes are for even though they're not bolded, as evidenced by the relevant dif and the word "for", respectively. Would there be a problem if I fixed them? --monika 21:51, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
Fixed now. --monika 05:30, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Against. I have absolutely no idea what this article is referencing, and without a Wikipedia link (or any way for people who don't already know what the joke is about to find out), it's enough for me to assume it's something obscure and therefore unworthy of researching.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 20:54, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
  • comment I'm not a fan of those wikipedia boxes aesthetically, but I'm not so against them I wouldn't add them if you really think they'd help. This article is about Varg Vikernes (wikipedia link) and Nevada-tan (wikipedia link), the two cutest murderers of the past two decades (with 99,300 and 21,800 google hits respectively, if there's any question to their semi-non-obscurity.)--monika 21:51, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
  • comment Added custom wiki-templates that aren't so ugly. --monika 22:43, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
  • comment I cannot in good conscience vote against this, since you've addressed my issues, but I still don't really like the article too much (and am left feeling in the dark, cold, and all alone). So, for the time being, I'm abstaining.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 22:57, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Thanks! Your quasi-ambivalence means a lot to me :) Sorry for making you feel dark, cold, and all alone... Black Metal can do that. --monika 23:21, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
So can Barry Manilow. --Sir Hardwick Fundlebuggy - (Ring for service) 00:10, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, but Black Metal won't make you kill yourself. Unless your nickname is "Dead", in which case you probably were going to eventually anyway. --monika 01:14, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

From Pee Review[edit source]

Hello again.

I ended up replacing someone else's article on Varg with a link to a subsection of my own article, but in the end that didn't feel completely right. So now I'm rewriting the article to expand upon the stuff I wrote in the subsection of my own article that the old article was redirected to. Yes. That's what happened.

Anyway, this is going to be the whole Euronymous murder as it actually happened only with most of the drama moved from the Black Metal underground to internet bloggery (Black Metal internet bloggery) and with strong parallels drawn between Varg and Nevada-tan, both of whom are adorable killing machines in real life.

I'm going to ignore the continuity errors (such as "Norway had access to the internet in 1989") so as to not negate the premise. I'll be making mockups of the MySpace NecroSpace blogs involved, and will probably try my hand at some cute Varg fanart. We'll see how that goes.

Anyway, comments? Suggestions? Ideas on how to make it more accessible to people who don't follow Norwegian Black Metal Drama (or those who do but aren't familiar with more recent Japanese elementary school killings)? Spellcheckery? Should I go back to my relatively more mainstream themes? :)

Thanks, monika 06:11, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

You could also include the fact that he escaped from prison last year (well, didn't return from leave) and then turned himself in a few days later because his mom told him to. Also, a pre- versus post-imprisonment photo can simply be added unaltered and without comment, because the change from Ev0l Tr00 BM badboy to cleancut mommy's boy is just hilarious on its own.Dutchy 11:21, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Do you have a source on that? I always heard that he returned to prison after one day because two cop cars drove his car full of explosives off the road when he tried to leave the country (after he stayed out longer than he was supposed to in an otherwise completely legitimate vacation from minimum security prison (lol @ Norway justice system)). The "after" pictures are indeed funny, but I think the hair cut is more of a "I'm not REALLY a Nazi- I don't support Socialism like Nazis, for example," thing than anything else. ::scratch head:: --monika 14:30, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
(Maybe I'm thinking a different escape, since the one I'm talking about happened in 2003. But the only really sensational Varg news I can think of from last year was this summer's parole attempt. -- monika 14:34, 15 November 2006 (UTC))

Aside: a gem I found on the internet researching for this article[edit source]

I'm sorry, but I have to put this somewhere. It is too funny to die in Google's cache. From a now gone message board...

Topic: Did Varg destroy Black Metal?
Kult:
By murder and church-arsons I mean, at that point Black Metal reached the masses and possibly got mainstream. How do you think?
Antikrist:
Church-arsons and blackmetal stands together!
Havent you read the bm texts?
The more churches we burn, the stronger BM will be!
Antikrist:
Oh, and after Vikernes got into jail, there were more than 50 attempts of church-arsons i norway on 1 year...
Kult
I don't think Black Metal depends on a curch being burnt or not.

re: that last undo.[edit source]

Sorry, my cat stepped on my keyboard as I was typing the thingie. The Burzum page is easily reachable from the Varg page. The new template just made everything more cluttered. There are already two more than I'd like, but apparently they're necessary. --monika 04:02, November 26, 2009 (UTC)

Discography[edit source]

I felt it was necessary to include a short discography the Burzum albums in the Black Metal section of the page so to show how Varg truly contributed to music.. I tried to at least make it funny. -- Wilytank 12:35 December 16, 2009

I know you mean good, but it is obvious that he contributed to music because he has an article about him that hasn't been deleted, and he is a musician. The additions is a) listy, and b) distracts from the otherwise unified theme of the article. I hope you don't take this as an "OMG leave my article alone and go mess with someone else's", but the Euronymous article is more sloppy, and could benefit more from help. I don't want to do it myself because then all the black metal articles will eventually start to sound like they were written by me, but it would be great if someone gave it a good solid rewite. If you want any help, let me know and I'll help you out. --monika 21:29, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

The new Varg[edit source]

Since Varg's look has changed dramatically ever since he's been in prison, shouldn't there be a pic of him on this page somewhere? --Wilytank 16:32, April 19, 2010 (UTC)

I don't see why the one would imply the other. In fact, "he's now old and bearded" is directly contrary to the spirit of the article. -monika 17:07, April 19, 2010 (UTC)

LOL[edit source]

This article was plain hilarious! Great job! In particular, I couldn't have imagined anyone could combine all three of these seemingly disconnected (i.e., Varg, Nevada Tan, and Internet nerdism) themes in such a fine way! Shame they didn't feature it! But at least that keeps it kvlt! :P MammonID (talk) 19:47, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
