Why always the atheists?[edit source]
It seems as though there are a great deal of pages that make fun of atheists – there are 3 versions of this one page! Fair enough, I started the third page – which is more a list of pros and cons really) this page just says daft things like you’ll save money on your car insurance if you become an atheist. It’s not particularly funny or offensive.
This is mainly edited by Americans and I’m aware that atheists aren’t held in high regard in the Land of the Free, but I think articles that give reasons to, say, join Osama Bin Laden’s crew might be funny as well. For example: Reasons to become a Muslim or Reasons to become a Jihadi (you're welcome - Osama). Can’t we make fun of religious people? Like how cheap a bus to heaven is for a Muslim…. (Or is that in bad taste?) Think it over. Weri long wang 14:29, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ugh... no more kontroversy. The article is funny as-is, especially for atheists. Rather than adjusting the article to fit everyone's sense of humor, everyone should adjust their sense of humor to allow for this article. -- 06:18, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- You're kidding, right? Uncyclopedia doesn't have enough Anti-Religion articles in your mind? --GAMESPOT=666 05:22, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Why always the Christians?[edit source]
The original article was Reasons not to be a devout Christian. This article was written as a sort of protest against the overabundance of that type of humor, in accordance with the Uncyclopedia:Flamewar Guidelines. It stands, almost alone, as an example of the exact type of humor normally directed at Christians and other Religious Peoples being directed at Atheists instead. One of the major points that this article makes is that before you have a legit reason to complain about this article and it's apparent message (which isn't really even very clear anymore, considering how much the article has grown) you have to admit that the vast majority of Christianity-related articles on Uncycloepdia are very anti-religious, unfair and frankly, more depressing than funny.
Locked?[edit source]
Is it locked or do I just not have authorization to edit the page? I've been here for a few months... --GAMESPOT=666 05:22, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, the page is protected, thank
God... whatever ... If you want to suggest changes, make a subpage. (like "Reasons to become an Atheist/Your subpage title" --Nerd42eMailTalkUnMetaWPediah2g2 16:30, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
could someone edit this part in if they can?[edit source]
could you say under the "You can" part, that you ccan have sex for fun and masturbate?
- just do it yourself
This article...[edit source]
...is a little puzzling due to the way it swings eratically through mocking both atheists and theists. However, I still believe that this is for the best; the irritated atheists are appeased by the lines stoking their egos, and the frustrated theists finally have an article to mock back with. I applaud this compromise and all who worked towards it.
...is funny. This should be the Reasons to become an Athiest/Funny Version! --Shooter Guy2
The un in uncylopedia stands for unfunny[edit source]
UnFunny garbage is what this is. a bunch of atheist propaganda.
- Ya, we know. If you want to remove the unfunny, just click ALT+F4. Or click the red X at the top right. 17:54, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- i thought it was pretty funny. "you don't he to hate gays! but you can if you want to" LOOLOLLOLOL
The article raises a valid point[edit source]
- "You get to believe ...that there isn't a omniscient God that loves us yet creates some of us knowing we will fail him and go to Hell for eternity. Is that Love?"
This is actually a valid point - one that the vast majority of the Christian world is not prepared to address in a sane, reasonable, logically consistent and Biblically-valid manner. Such behavior would not be loving and I believe that, despite what most Christians teach, God does not do any such thing. I believe that the only people who go to Hell for eternity are those who absolutely know better and make a choice to go there. God expresses His love for that small part of His creation by respecting that choice. I think it's wrong (and absurd from a Biblical standpoint) to teach that millions of people are going to hell for all eternity merely because they didn't go to the altar and say some magic words. --Nerd42eMailTalkUnMetaWPediah2g2 20:10, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
The sensible version[edit source]
What the hell happened to it? i liked it because it was actualy witty, unlike the troll-esk humour of this page
- Meh, I agree. I say, revert to like 2008 or whenever it was, and permanently protect the page. --Nerd42eMailTalkUnMetaWPediah2g2 18:33, January 12, 2011 (UTC)
