Talk:Large Hadron Collider

I'm sick to death of reading through joke after joke about the Large Hard-on Collider. EVERYONE has thought of this joke at some point or other. You even can tell that about 5 five people have inserted this joke into the article without even bothering to check whether it was already there. I don't wanna go about rewriting the article to my personal taste, but I think we should delete all but one of the Hard-on gags. --Atomik Spongeface • Ⓣ Ⓒ 22:17, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- Honestly, I don't think we need any. The Wilde quote about colliding hadrons is all the innuendo we need. --monika 22:32, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. Also, what's all this bollocks about the Van Allen Belt? 90% of people (including me before I looked it up) neither know nor care what the Van Allen Belt is, and having three lines of simple fact about it, without any accompanying jokes, is stupid and pointless. I know I'm being a miserable and cynical git here but this article really needs some fixing, especially as the LHC is highly relevant at the moment. --Atomik Spongeface • Ⓣ Ⓒ 18:20, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for volunteering to fix it :) --monika 18:29, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- The seeming lack of effort and abundance of bitching is because I'm unsure whether deleting/rewriting entire sections at will would be acceptable. But if you check the article history, you'll see that I have been making a series of lethal, surgically precise edits here and there. Oh yes. ;] I suppose I might as well take a shot at going in and slashing up the article in the name of humour. The damage can be undone, after all. We'll see how things are when I'm finished with it. --Atomik Spongeface • Ⓣ Ⓒ 19:58, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Rewrites are totally acceptable here. They are actually the norm among regular users. Observe. If you actually want to rewrite the entire thing, you might consider making a copy on your userspace and working on it there until you are done, so you can work undisturbed. --monika 20:23, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Nice. And I see your rewrite got that article featured! Nice one. ;] I'll think I'll a copy to my userspace and work on it like you said. THX! --Atomik Spongeface • Ⓣ Ⓒ 21:35, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Good luck with it. This article is actually off to a rather good start for such a large group of contributing authors. But these things often come out best when a single author (or small group of authors) takes charge and puts in a lot of concentrated effort to bring it together. --monika 21:45, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

I wrote facts about the Van Allen Belt? Gosh.--MrDreadful 22:51, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps the two of you should consider working together. Atomik, MrDreadful did most of the early work on this article before IPs started going crazy on it, and even had a pee review done here. --monika 22:56, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
One LHC to pwn them all! --Wukkowrakk 13:53, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
