MediaWiki talk:Sitenotice id

I just looked this up. Am I right in thinking if we don't change the number, then users who have dismissed previous versions of the sitenotice won't see the new one? Leverage (talk) 11:14, 17 August 2015 (UTC)

Yes. And yes, that's stupid. There's a two-line patch to enable the automatic updating of the site notice ID, which would make bumping up the count on MediaWiki:Sitenotice id obsolete, but maintaining such patches in the long run becomes sorta tedious.
