“ A wise native chief once said to me “ᎤᏩᏙᎵ” on second thought, it was probably just the word of a teenage boy of the tribe and not the chief.”

~ Phoebe Perlman on The Cherokee language

The Cherokee syllabary is a syllabary invented by a sequoia tree in the late 1810s and early 1820s. Unlike French or Spanish, the Cherokee language is the art of writing letters that have nothing to do with the language's actual sounds. For example, when Cherokee people write "Ꭺ, ᏙᎻᏃ", they mean "go, domino". More nonsensically, "ᏎᏮ" in Cherokee makes a sound similar to "sewer" in English.
