BioSock is an open-world survival horror sandbox 3D adventure-based fun videogame that has later inspired many philosophies about things we didn't know we didn't know before we knew, an experimental philosophy about knowing the things that you didn't did know you knew. The game was initially released in North America in 2007, where it gained mostly positive ratings. When translated to every other language on Earth, it was posted worldwide on the Internet in 2012 for free download (due to destruction of Earth), being the first of many different games, movies and pop-up books. The original BioSock later became less popular with the inclusion of a revamp, going under the name BioSock: Refabricated.

History[edit | edit source]

Ken Levine, the lead developer of BioSock, reveals that the game was originally meant to be a game about genetic modification and a city built on the bottom of the sea, but was later exported as a similar game, but with a different setting.

- «Yeah, we agreed at first... But then... Someone came up with an idea about a game that revolves around socks, and I said... "Yeah man, that's a great idea! Sounds really realistic!". Then we came up with some random setting about being a living sock that must protect the world from burning down and... That's pretty much where we started. Then we came up with other cool stuff like... Some... sort of... metal creature with a giant helmet for a head and a drill for a hand... Sorry, a sock for a head and a needle in its hand to knit socks and other stuff... And that's it for the game, so yeah.»

Spin-off works[edit | edit source]

  • While waiting for BioSock's worldwide release, the Europeans invented their own game with its own story, which was later called "The Waiting Game", named after the original event. The Waiting Game later inspired the developers of BioSock to add more features into the game, thus leading to more waiting. Upon the game's final release, players had gotten so tired of waiting that BioSock was cancelled during 2007, but was later released again during the time period of 2012, given the identity of "BioSock: Refabricated".
