Do we welcome them or leave them to their own devices?
It seems like a lot of work considering the amount of new accounts every day, but I feel like the majority of them are misguided and/or confused. Hence vandalism and/or horrible nonsensical articles. 17:49, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- If I remember correctly we welcome them after their first edit but I think there's something wrong with the welcome template and specifically in the place where the user's name should appear. --Mimo&maxus 18:03, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- On top of that I'm not sure if making them a talk page to welcome them is okay. On top of that, now that I've learned of spammers, it's kind of hard to discern... 18:11, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Probably...
They are probably all spambots. IFYMB! Talk to me baby! 18:20, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah. That's disheartening. Why are there so many, anyway? What happened? 18:21, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, after taking a look at their user names, I have to admit, they all look like spambots. Well, that's a shame. --Mimo&maxus 18:23, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- It is. We still get new users frequently, regardless of spambots. 18:25, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- New users? Like who? --Mimo&maxus 18:38, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Well there's a few that were made a few days ago, but it looks like you've taken care of them. I was asking what's the protocol for dealing with new users? I didn't mean right now, I just meant in general. Like, if I come across one, is it okay to make a talkpage for them, or just wait for them to figure it out on their own? I was never clear on that. 18:42, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, if you see a new user that does not have a talkpage you are encouraged to create a talkpage for them with the welcome template ({{subst:Welcome}} ~~~~). Other than that you should be supportive of their writing and just generally not scare them away. -- The Zombiebaron 20:19, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you ZB. You are the shining light in this pit of chaos. Or something like it, anyway. 20:23, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Cute. IFYMB! Talk to me baby! 20:26, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Also, help them if they need help; by welcoming users you are setting yourself up as their first point of contact in the community. Perhaps even consider adopting them. -- The Zombiebaron 20:27, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help. 20:39, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

THEY'RE SPAMMERS JIM!
Dude... like totally... -- 18:51, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- You could've read the entirety of the forum post. I know that newest ones today are spambots. You left me a message on my talkpage. I'm asking what to do if they're real people. 18:53, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- If they're real people, they'd do something silly, like make a shitty userpage, or make n00bish edits. If so, molest them with either {{subst:welcome}} or {{subst:Oh dear}}. M'kay? -- 18:55, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
An actual answer
- Yes, most of the new users are spambot accounts. In order to ensure that we are welcoming all the actual new users and not welcoming the spambots, only welcome new users that are making real edits. Pretty simple. -- The Zombiebaron 20:03, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Listen to Zombiebaron. He is the king!
- He's the Canadian King. 20:51, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

- So all of these accounts where it's a name followed by numbers are spambots? Ain't that something. Obvious spambot 03:59, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
Spambots?
The first useful users we've ever had, and you're banning them? Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 02:39, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- True, true. I saw real potential in some of their articles like Cure Yeast Infection Sores and Untreated Yeast Infections - Can They Be Serious?. --Mimo&maxus 08:09, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- Exactly. Yeast is the funniest of all the infections. I had a yeast "bit" with Morey Amsterdam that killed in the Catskills back in '62. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 15:28, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- That's horrifying. But I think what Mimo&maxus was trying to say is we should've at yeast given them a chance. 15:38, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- No, I was just being sarcastic. --Mimo&maxus 19:14, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- I was joking. The yeast part was a pun. 19:19, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- And when I thought things couldn't get more akward... --Mimo&maxus 19:22, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- It's fine. 20:58, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- It's adequately awkward. More than trying to climb the rope in gym class, but less than trying to climb it in front of a girl. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 21:48, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- That's a pretty good comparison. 23:54, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
- Pretty much the only ones I've seen on the original Wikia one this year are the Brit-Slayer and Mike the Great. And I believe Moe Lester 69, too. Newman66 Visit my table here! Contributions 00:43, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
- Moe Lester 69? DAMN! Why didn't I think of that user name...50.198.221.213 01:49, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
- We should also change our password and use the security antivirus just in case what happened to that one who did the sandwich thing and instantly logged on to my computer server and used my account. This is also because my security was messed up with an antivirus error that we had to uninstall the antivirus and put it back on. Newman66 Visit my table here!
