This is an idea I proposed a few months before, and due to a few issues and the quality of the page, it went pear shaped.

To make the story short, I started writing HowTo:Get Started on Editing Uncyclopedia in response to a discussion about a stub that got huffed without a vote. The idea was to share the knowledge I'd learned during my time at Uncyclopedia so it'd be easier for other users to learn how to edit here without running into deletion-related problems; the main idea was to encourage them to edit on their userpage subpages, and not go into the main space until the material is completed.

There was a controversy about the language being offensive to new users, that issue has been resolved. A few other people have contributed to the article also, and I think it's improved and has been useful.

I think it could be more useful if it was easier to find. A major idea of this article is that if a new user asks an admin or someone else a question, to save time, they can just be referred to the appropriate provision of the article, rather than giving repetitive advice over and over. And if someone complained about a deletion, they could be referred to the subpage instructions, and thereby avoid tension and potentially losing a user who wanted to contribute here, but just didn't know how.

So anyway, that's my story. Does anyone think this should be moved and linked into {{welcome}} as suggested? I don't want to start a formal vote until I know there's at least some support for the change. I think it's a good idea, but I'm just one person. I want to know what other people think. --Hrodulf 10:01, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

I think this could be a good idea.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 19:10, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Ditto, I think it's a very good idea to make this more easy to find. Though I'm not really sure it needs a change of name. Or perhaps moving it to the Help: namespace would be more appropriate? Spang talk 23:20, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Nom and For. Let's see what happens. --Hrodulf 20:30, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
  • For. because it's a good page.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 21:36, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
  • For inclusion in {{welcome}} and other help indexes, but neutral on changing the name/namespace. Spang talk 23:20, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
  • For. because Brad said For, and Brad is a sexy goose. --Sir Zombiebaron 01:27, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Comment It occurs to me that changing the name is an unimportant issue and we should focus on better links into the welcome template and anywhere else people suggest it should go.
  • Done. I left the redirect for now, to allow people to fix any links they have. 1 day's grace before it gets whacked. Article is now at a some-what more managable location of Uncyclopedia:How To Get Started Editing. Bone F clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 31/10 03:28
  • Comment I'm in the process of updating the links for the page move, but the welcome template still doesn't have a link. I'm a little unclear on how voting works, is this vote over? Or does something else have to happen? --Hrodulf 13:27, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
I declared it over. Spang added the link. We're super efficient. Since you're in charge of updating links, check here. I guess the redirect can stay for a day or two longer. Bone F clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 2/11 02:40
Roger that. --Hrodulf 06:01, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
Every day, thousands of unsuspecting and otherwise harmless redirects are mercilessly killed by uncyclopedia admins. Only you can stop the horror. It doesn't need to be this way. Just pledge no less than however much you can afford to the Save the Redirects Foundation, and together we can make a difference.
Comment Um, ok, in the course of this entire vote and the attempted redirect fixing, I got banned two times in the last three days or so, so if you guys want to fix this stuff you can do it and get banned for it some, I'm finished with it, lol. --Hrodulf 04:28, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
