The Red Link Destruction-o-rama-a-thon-a-thon.

Redlinks.jpg

Yes, that’s right; another writing competition to chisel away at your eroding social life much like a chisel erodes a…social life? Eh, I’ll come up something better later. This one promises to be different to all the other comps though - in that it’s exactly the same as existing comps – with minor differences.

Wha?

The Red Link Destruction-o-rama-a-thon-a-thon. But I guess you already figured that one out.

Buh?

Little red links have infested Uncyclopedia, putting holes in articles, chewing all the cabling, and leaving their nasty business all over the floor. We need to stamp these little critters out of existence and into whatever the thing that existence isn’t. And seeing as the pen is mightier than the sword (more so if it has a shotgun attached to it), we shall pen them so far into the dark abyss they will need a torch or some sort of giant candle to get out. And maybe a ladder.

When an article gets deleted, every other article with links to the deleted one gets infested with a red link. Your mission, should you choose to be bothered, is to rewrite the deleted article and thus eliminating all the red links that link to that article. A list of the deleted articles that have the most links to them can be found at the most wanted page. There’s also prizes for the best articles written so put away your random meme and stub generators and put your your funny caps on.

Snuh?

Good question! It’ll start June 1st, run for three weeks, followed by a week for judging, two if there are a lot of articles.

Hnnng

That’s not a question. However, scoring will be as follows. Each article will be judged and given a score out of ten which will be the average score of all judges. That score will then be multiplied by the amount of red links attached to the article at the competition starting date. Article scores for each participant will then be added together for a total score. The winner is the person with the most points or the only person that enters.

Vff?

Yes, here are some rules(I'm open to reasonable rule change suggestions)

  • A list of eligible articles can be found here
  • There will be an article cap of ten (to prevent buttloads of crappy stubs).
  • Participants can reserve one article at a time for up to a week
  • Judges will be allowed and encouraged to enter. Where a conflict of interest arises, an extra judge will give their articles a score.
  • Any article deleted prior to the start time will be accepted. Articles deleted after the start will be ineligible. (So get Vfd-ing)
  • The top ten most wanted articles can not be reserved, whoever writes the highest scoring article will get all the points.
  • Disputes will be settled with a game of hungry hungry hippos

Awww.

Don’t worry little buddy, everyone can enter! Even you!

Ngnnnnaaaaaaauh!

Yes! That’s the spirit!

Anyways.

I’m not sure if this is a good idea or not but I’m thinking about putting up a monetary reward. It’s hardly a pirates lost booty, only a modest sum as encouragement to get fingers out of noses and get them wriggling over keyboards. There was talk about this a while ago but talks seemed to have stalled so this is a bit of an experiment. If anyone was around when the PLS had this, please let me know how it was handled and what not.

These prizes aren’t a great deal of cash so I’m also thinking about making these prizes a donation to a charity of your choice instead, so if you like this idea and/or feel like adding to the pool, let me know.

The prizes will be :-

Main comp

  • 1st - $40
  • 2nd - $20
  • 3rd - $10

Secondary comp – Best individual article score

  • 1st - $15
  • 2nd - $10
  • 3rd - $5

I’m aiming for a balance of quantity versus quality here and I’m open to suggestions and ideas to make this better, or less confusing. Hopefully I haven’t forgotten anything. – Preceding unsigned comment added by HauntedUndies (talk • contribs)

Hmm, I’ll think about it.

Please stick a sig down here if you’re interested in playing Red Link Destruction-o-rama-a-thon-a-thon. I’m looking for at least eight to start this thing. – Preceding unsigned comment added by HauntedUndies (talk • contribs)
