Forum:Audio and Typed in Versions of the Same Article
Listening to recent audios by contributors , It did remind me that when you are doing a spoken version of an article the speaker should be allowed to shorten or edit it for broadcast . What looks good on a page doesn't always translate well as an audio clip and vice versa. This could be like audio abridgment or editing. I also think we should encourage audio contributions if we can . --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate). 20:13, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- sorry the header should be Audio and Published versions of the same article. My head has fallen off tonight. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate). 20:18, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- When someone does an audio version of a textio page, who makes them do anything about anything? If I were to record this page, for instance, and chose to substitute all these words for funnier ones, like "watermelon" and "titmouse", and this signature for a funnier one, like "Nipples the Clown", could you stop me? - No you couldn't do that. I would suggest some abridgement rather than word changing otherwise it isn't the author's article . --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate). 17:07, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- That's why I rarely do audios. Obviously. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 17:27, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- The audio I did for was very, very abridged. • <9:02 Jun 16, 2009>
- I don't see any problem with people doing abridged audios.
- What about audios of a comment in a forum in an amusing quasi-Russian accent, with the audio itself also in an amusing quasi-Russian accent? Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 11:07, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

....So before this subject goes off on the usual uncyclopedian tangent ...the message is - YES you can abridge. I just wonder if there should be something in SMALL PRINT offering guidance on this for the audio page in case a writer believes you are messing around with their masterpiece, their Catch 22 tale off , Harry Pottering opus etc etc. Or perhaps just do and wait for the brown stuff to hit the fan. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate). 11:46, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
