Welcome[edit source]

We have been waiting for you.

Hello, Solasatura, and welcome to Uncyclopedia. This is a wiki (a collection of pages anyone can edit). Words in blue are "links" and can be clicked to take you to another page. This wiki is for comedy. It pretends it's Wikipedia, but we make people laugh, not bore them. If you aren't interested in a fake encyclopedia but in fake news stories, we have UnNews, and there are other projects for scripts, lyrics, how-to guides, books, etc.

What you can do

You can create your own article. You can create it under your own name if, for example, you are not sure whether you will finish it; such as User:Solasatura/An article. If you don't have any ideas, we have a list of articles that need to be created.

If you've written an article, we have a Proofreading service where someone will correct your mistakes, and a review process where another Uncyclopedian will read your article and suggest improvements.

You can help without writing articles; just read articles and, if you see an improvement in writing or in comedy, jump in and edit it. In fact, you can help without writing at all, such as organizing, watching for vandals, or even greeting other new users.

What you need

To write articles, you need a sense of humor and an ability to write good English. We all have strengths and weaknesses and you can get help in any area. But everyone needs an ability to work with other people. Be polite, positive, and helpful toward others, and assume others are doing the same toward you.

What to read
For personal help
  • Active administrators of Uncyclopedia are able to help you. In addition to that they are paid twice as much as we are, however, they still cannot afford a cup of coffee;
  • Several experienced Uncyclopedians have indicated their willingness to adopt new users;
  • Finally, you can ask questions on your (here) or on my talk page. And I will be willing to help you!
How to post to talk pages

Please follow these general rules:

  • Add comments at the end of a talk page so people notice your addition.
  • Start your paragraphs with one or more ":" characters to indent them and set them off from other people's posts.
  • At the end, type ~~~~ (four tildes), which gets replaced by your signature (you can set it up using Preferences) and the date and time of your post.

I hope you enjoy it here!

Your articles[edit source]

Hi Sola Satura! Your new articles can be found at the following locations: User:Solasatura/Dirty Harry Reid and User:Solasatura/Alexis Antichrist. Thank you for your contributions, your articles are a nice beginning! There are just a few things you need to keep in mind while editing Uncyclopedia. All sorts of humour are welcome here and political satire is an especially interesting genre, so it was a bit disappointing for me to see that you didn't drive your parody articles to their full humour potentials.

Your articles seems to follow a particular scheme: a politician is ridiculized throug an addition to his full name (Antichrist, Dirty) and then is described through a detailed biography, abunding with dates, numbers and names of people and places. A lot of those facts are true, while some seem made up. It is interesting idea but the problem there is that the reader must know those politicians' biographies to the least detail in order to be able to see whether you are making a joke or not. And then he should stop again to try to find meaning between a joke, if he finds one. Now, the best articles, whether they are political satire or not, rely on witty writing, that consists in a concept - an original perspective the author takes while looking at an object or a person that's not necessarily extraordinary - and witty prose, that ridicules/exaggerates/parodies what he's writing about.

On Alexis Antichrist in particular: The reason why I said I was slightly disappointed is that due to the coverage the Greek politics have recently received, it seems that the biography of the new leader is particularly interesting and can be looked at from many original angles. "Antichrist" might be one of them, if you develop it well! The questions I, as a reader, who is not as knowledgeable about Greek politcis, as you are, ask myself while reading the title are: Why would this particular politician be considered a reincarnation of evil? Does his ruling style reflect this? Is it really a popular opinion or a way to make fun of him? Are you making fun of Tsipras or of his critics? Etc. Unfortunately, the article isn't offering me any answers to any of those questions.

Why not develop this angle from the start: for instance, "ever since the Christ's Third Coming, the Antichrist has been waiting to take a new human form. The one that fit him the best was arguably the body of Alexis Tsipras, a prominent young Communist, who caught the Devil's attention while publicly proclaiming that "austerity is the heroin of upper classes"." Just to give you an idea of where you can go with your text, even thoug my version will probably not fit you.

Remember that the most important is where you go with the approach you've adopted, not how well you know the politics. If you need inspiration, then you can consult our features on politicians! And, also, please, contact me here or on my talkpage, if you have any comments or questions, and it'll be my pleasure to help you. Good luck Uncyclopedeing! Anton (talk) 14:07, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
