At Uncyclopedia, writing articles is not a requirement, but I do recommend it, it can be quite enjoyable, and it's a good chance to let others take notice of your writing. To write an article, it's recommended that you start it in your userspace (for example, User:Marie/Article about stuff) so you can edit it at your leisure. If you decide to create it in the cold world of mainspace, make sure it is in accordance with the policies laid out above, and if you're not done put the "Work-In-Progress" template - {{construction}} - onto it as well. If you want to write and don't know where to begin, consider contributing to Uncyclopedia's current colonization of the week, a group writing project to improve a single popular article. Hi Marie, you called for help, and I'm responding. Sort of. Anyway, a couple of tips first up - don't remove stuff from talk pages unless you archive them on other pages, it helps keep track of things, including those really helpful links in that there welcome message ;-)

Now, when it comes to making a cool userpage, there are no guides that I know of. The general approach to that sort of thing, as with cool sigs and indeed any kind of cool formatting, is to look around the site, find a page you like the look of, edit the page, shamelessly copy the code (don't save the page), come back to your page, paste the code in, then change all the bits with their name and their articles to your name and your articles. As you progress, you'll become more of a magpie, stealing cool ideas from other people's pages as you find them.

A lot of the stuff is in html, but this is a wiki, you can't really break it by playing around with html formatting, so change stuff and see what happens. The preview button is your friend here. The only real rule is that any tags you open like <this> have to be closed again like </this> when you're done with them. So go steal code and play with it. Oh, and this might help - it's a handy list of html colour names that can help you make your page look snazzy. Oh, and while I'm here, I see you're playing around with a sig. That's cool. Be careful it's not too tall though - there are a couple of rules about how high sigs can be. Other than that though, it's all good. --UU - natter 16:15, Mar 18
