User talk:Gladstone/Leeds
Ok, so the Leeds article contains almost nothing funny at all, so I'm going to start from scratch rewriting it to actually try and provide something witty and insightful/inciteful depending on which way you look at it! Feel free to add to or amend, but comment on here - when it gets to something like a standard which could be considered I'll get it peed on a few times and then update the main Leeds article.
Initial Ideas[edit source]
For want of a better idea, I've based the headings roughly on the existing page - I'm sure this will change over time. --Gladstone 16:05, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
No ideas, but good luck! As someone with Yorkshire connections, I'd like to see a decent article on Leeds. And let's face it, there's plenty of options for send-ups and piss-takes. The biggest challenge you'll face may not so much be writing a funny article as dealing with all the vandalism you'll get when/if you replace the current crap article! --SirU.U.Esq. - Thanks! I'm going to stick to one or two pages for the moment rather than trying to do too many. It's pretty difficult to find a decent 'place' page as they're all full of in jokes. I got Morley, West Yorkshire peed, and that was alright, but the perennial comment applies - it's only relevant to a few.
Sport[edit source]
Have made a start - thought a very thinly veiled parody of Manyoo/FC Utd was a start, and sure to piss off the LEeds fans more than any crass insults! --Gladstone 21:38, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Themes[edit source]
OK, so I'm struggling a little with themes. I don't really want it to be a funny version of a Wikipedia page - it's been done before and however good it is it will only end up full of in jokes. At the same time, it should be something which means something to the folk round our way.
So anyway, I want to keep away from the following tired cliches:
- Small village
- Capital of Yorkshire/world
- Figment of Chuck Norris' imagination
- Better/worse than Sheffield/London/Manchester/Rotherham
- Level in a computer game
Which sort of rules out most of my ideas so far.
