UnNews:McDonald's buys Burger King[edit source]

Welcome to UnNews and thanks for your contribution! I added a few apparently missing words and added some Categories, is all. Reads very much like news; not based on real news, but you've tagged it with {{Original}}, so that covers that. Are you trying to make some point beyond, Here is something absurd that could happen? If not, okay; and again, welcome! Spıke ¬ 03:15 15-Mar-11

Grandfather clause[edit source]

Nice effort, and nice concept. Some brief comments:

  • One thing that the style guide advises is to avoid "nonsense numbers," and your nonsense numbers are really nonsensical. A deliberately fake number like $69,696,969.69 is worse than $10,000 or some other number that illustrates a falsehood but looks as though it might be true, until the reader thinks about it. Remember that, superficially, this is supposed to be an encyclopedia article.
  • There is a bit of "randumbo" in this article. Kansas City is not in Antarctica, everyone knows that. Cramming together impossibilities may show the world how much amusing stuff you've got in your brain, but the reader just goes, Huh? Abe Lincoln's father was not George Washington. (I think it was Lincoln Continental, who served in the Continental Congress.) And nothing in the original Constitution referred to Rosie O'Donnell. Merely being impossible doesn't get it all the way to funny.
  • What a great segue to my next point. Cheney, Condoleeza, Bieber--you're dropping these names as though just a mention will send us rolling into the aisles. A celebrity named without tying him into the story is known as a "meme," and articles that lean too heavily on them are "memecruft" and are eventually voted off the island.
  • Finally, lists. It's easier writing a one-liner than writing a paragraph with multiple ideas that are all tied together. What this means is that Anons around the world will be editing your article and adding their favorite stupid one-liner and your life will become a living hell of staying up late and clicking on Undo.

Hope this helps; see you around the pages. Spıke ¬ 10:48 16-Mar-11
