You turn on the torch, which obviously belonged to a rich bloke, and illuminates everything with impressive intensity. That oughta keep the Grues away pretty good.
Heading back to the highway, you start walking along it toward the city, sticking your thumb out for a hitch. You look like a bit of an arsehead doing so, as the highway is totally empty and silent with not a single sign of movement anywhere, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Even if you don't have a good reason for it.
After a fair few minutes of walking, however, you hear a noise from behind you. Turning around, you see a set of headlight coming toward you along the road, and in a few minutes a rickety old semi-truck pulls up alongside you. A washed-up looking bloke looks out the window. "Need a lift?" he grunts.
