And now, it's time for your feature presentation! Only instead of doing it, they give us a brief ten-minute-explanation about the film to try to make it more clear to the film's viewers. Of course, since the film's in German, there were a few translation errors, but we have fixed them to the best of our knowledge.

Translation: Already cliched dystopian future/present that we've heard before in 1984 and The Hunger Games.
This is totally not a communist message!
A bunch of the film was cut off by the censors, so that half-explains why this film is so confusing.
Okay, so this seems fair enough... wait... there's got to be some catch...
...aaand there we go. You know, of course, that this completely contradicts the previous statement?
Fritz Lang, the film's creator, once said: "I was totally tripping on some acid when I made this and I REGRET NOTHING!"

After the introduction, the film actually starts. Many critics say that the opening with the orchestra climax is too similar to that of another film; however, this is not true since Metropolis actually came long before, so any similarities would be a coincidence.

dun...
dun...
dun...
DAH DAHHH!!!

Err, actually there might be a few similarities...

PLOT SYNOPSIS

THE WORKERS' LIVES

[edit | edit source]

At the beginning of the film, Lang tries to show a huge gap between the rich and the poor. And what better way to do this than a music montage? So Lang shows scenes of the machines, a horn going off, and, for some reason, a clock. And also the film turns from orange tone to blue due to shitty editing.
