1998 - 1999: Launch[edit | edit source]

US Airlines began on February 6, 1998. It had only 3 destinations during 1998 and the first half of 1999. In June 1999, US Airlines expanded to all of North America. In August 1999, US Airlines began to expand it's selection international.

2000 - 2001: Expansion[edit | edit source]

In August 1999, US Airlines added service to South America and in February 2000, added Europe and Asia service. The final continent, Australia, was added in March 2001, finishing it's one year expansion.

2001 - 2005: 9/11[edit | edit source]

After September 11th, 2001, US Airlines had less flights and experienced budget strains. Also, Cup Airways was also very angry about September 11th, so they sued US Airlines and became enemies. On September 11th, 2002, US Airlines entered Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. It was able to exit on August 4, 2003, because the government loved US Airlines and gave them $5 billion. From 2003 to 2005, only 150,000 people 'enjoyed' US Airlines (at the time, US Airlines's slogan was 'Enjoy', it changed to 'Fly with US' in mid-2006). In the 2005 - 2006 airline season, 70% more people 'enjoyed' US Airlines.

2005 - 2009: Dealing with Cup Airways[edit | edit source]

Starting on September 29, 2005, 500 flights on US Airlines became low-cost. In 2006, the airline became low-cost. Starting in March 2006, Cup Airways and US Airlines created MetroJet, a short-lived Flight program, which was replaced with ZOOM Airways. On 24 September 2008, Cup Airways Flight 911, made Cup Airways get close to it's end. After Cup Airways ceased operations on 17 January 2009, US Airlines, acquired Cup Airways's remains and renamed it as 'US Airways'. On 20 January 2009, the airline was sued because they copied the name 'US Airways'. So, they changed it to 'US-Airways' to make the company happier.

2009 - present: Happy Years[edit | edit source]

In 2009, US Airlines got happy and celebrated with free flights for 3 days. In August 2009, US Airlines will rename ZOOM Airways to simply ZOOM!.
