Thank you for your review.

The "pet" bit: This was my favourite idea from the original Star Trek article, and like you have already realized, it was my "nod" to it as well as being a convenient device to separate the shows from being related.

I do certainly agree with the the criticism that some of the character bios need expansion.

However, I'm not sure that they were all "random". I was acually attempting a sub-theme based on the reversal of the subtle "sexual repression" that I often detected in many of the stories. Data himself, it is stated a number of times thoughout the show, was "fully functional; programmed in multiple techniques", but there always seems to be embarassment amongst charaters whenever this or anything vaguely "risque" was discussed. I appreciate, however, that I may not have made my intention clear enough and would welcome any further suggestions on this.

I agree that some of the photos aren't that good (Particularly the one for Troi), but many of the others were picked for their relevence the above theme.

I apologise if I seem a little defensive on some of the issues, but there was a lot of deliberation on how I viewed their relationships. SuperBario 20:33, November 10, 2009 (UTC)

Thingy thing[edit source]

You make some good points. I agree that the sexual repression/embarrassment thing is a really good idea, but like you guessed I would also say that it's not particularly clear, as I didn't really notice it myself.

In light of your defence, maybe you should expand this theme. Maybe mention that although it is occasionally stated that Data is fully functional etc., everyone is to embarrased to enquire further. Talk more about the strict anti-sex atmosphere on the Enterprise D, this was the 80s so maybe talk about how everyone was scared shitless by AIDs or something. You kind of hint at this already when you talk about Yar's death, implying she had to die because she slept with Data. There are a lot of things you could do, just enhance it. These are just suggestions.

However, I still think a lot of the pictures (particularly Worf and Data's ones) just seem pointlessly crude. I don't know, maybe that's just me. By the way though, I love the new section on Dr. Polowski (or whatever her name was).

Again, sorry if I seem harsh, it's just because I like your article, and I like Star Trek, and I want to see it as perfect as possible. Hope I have been of some help. Black Flamingo 09:51, November 11, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks again[edit source]

No need to apologise for the criticisms, I am grateful that you pointed out some of these things. Like you, I really want to get it to a decent standard as I grew up watching this show. As I said before, I wasn't completely disagreeing with you; I was just trying to explain the direction I was attempting to go in.

I now have some further ideas about the earlier parts of the article to try and clear up the "prudishness" issue, which, if I can get it right, should add some more depth to the "Locations" section too.

I would also like your opinion on the following idea for Troi. Although I am quite reluctant to remove the idea of her being their for the crew's "pleasure", I am now thinking that it would be better if her "Counselling" role was actually a cover for it.

Yeah[edit source]

Yeah that could work. It's true she never did much counselling, just hung around the bridge in that all-in-one. The only reason she was there was so male viewers (and possibly other characters) could stare at her. I'm sure you've already read it, but I'm sure there's already some good stuff along those lines on the Troi article, unless it's been raped by IPs. Good luck with the edits, I'll keep checking your article in the meantime. Black Flamingo 10:44, November 12, 2009 (UTC)
