A big mug o' reviewin' strength tea? Why, that must mean this article is being reviewed by: UU - natter (While you're welcome to review it as well, you might like to consider helping someone else instead). (Also, if the review hasn't been finished within 24 hours of this tag appearing, feel free to remove it or clout UU athwart the ear'ole). |
Oh, the perils of being popular. I got you covered... --UU - natter 21:40, May 30
- I'm in the mood for a review, and this looks the best of them to review. Staircase CUNt 21:41, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Humour: | 8 | Hee, I quite enjoyed that - it's an interesting idea, and quite a neat take on it too. While I intend to go some day, I've not visited Egypt yet (although there were some fucking noisy Egyptians on the floor below me at university), so I clicked the link with a little trepidation, wondering if I'd keep up with the article, but no problems there. I like the way you've played happily on the western stereotypes of the character - sadly, that almost cartoony aspect probably makes it more accessible to many, as well as giving you more opportunities to have fun by taking the character over the top.
So, what did I like? Most of it. You manage to have several recurring jokes, but it doesn't feel like a repetitive article, which is a handy trick to pull off. I also like the sense of confusion between the two that you use - it's tricky to do this without it feeling contrived, but for the most part, you manage that too, which is cool. Anything I didn't like? Actually, I'm struggling a little with that one. I'm not entirely sure about the "So, DO you have a job?" line coming after the misunderstanding about smoking - I didn't get the feeling that the misunderstanding had been cleared up, so it felt a little false. But then, I guess I was also wondering why she's asking if he has a job while she's in his taxi - surely his job is fairly obvious? Possibly better to ask if he enjoys his job, which could set up the same misunderstanding but be slightly more believable? |
Concept: | 8 | A different idea, and a good one, solidly mined for laughs. I've not seen an uninterview before, and not a script like this one either, but I like it, and I can see there being quite a few possibilities for it. I can imagine you having fun with the audio as well, Mr Dillo, I look forward to hearing it! |
Prose and formatting: | 8 | Well, as most of it is intentionally bad English, there's not much to say. You're consistent with most of the bad English, which I think is fairly important with something like this - you have to stay within the rules you establish or the reader starts to get lost. There were one or two issues which did need a fix though, because they're not about a comedic bad accent or whatever, but I'll sort those now because it's quicker than explaining it.
Needs a wikilink or two though, I think. I'm sure you can crowbar at least one or two relevant links in there. |
Images: | 8 | Fine. All appropriate, illustrate the article nicely, well captioned. Although looking at the talk page, I think the third one does lose something because it's not that easy to tell from the article how well the guy is doing - the jokey allusion that he's doing quite well, which I think was either watered down or removed, doesn't really come across in the article, so that caption feels a little out of place. |
Miscellaneous: | 8 | Averaged, although why I bothered I don't know, it's not that hard to work out the average of 4 eights... |
Final Score: | 40 | Rightyho, I like this. It made me chuckle. I don't think it's too over-the-top, I don't think it's too hard for dirty foreigners like myself to follow, I don't think it outstays its welcome, and I think it's a very decent article. With a good audio, and a little attention to the points I raise above, I look forward to seeing this make a strong showing on VFH. Nice work, Mahmoosh. You're quite good on these collabs, Mordillo, maybe I should do one with you some time... ;-)
As always, other opinions are available, and good luck! |
