HowTo:Write a Progressive Rock Song [edit source]
To see if it's criticized along lines similar to its first Pee. --Guildensternenstein 19:17, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Humour: | 6 | For me, the funny level here is ha-ha, not rofl. This is fine. Not every article, in order to be very good, has to have us rolling. I think this subject matter warrants this level. I like how you don't get off of Pink Floyd and King Crimson until more than half-way through.
That said, I have thought of a couple of extensions that I think would be funny: Perhaps a disclaimer at the beginning would be funny, such as "If you do not find this article amusing, it is because you are not intelligent". The example song should be broken up into parts with names, such as:
(be sure to release Advent of the Lambeth, part III on a subsequent, unrelated album) An important prerequisite, or even perhaps step one, should be "Don't be American. American prog sucks. See Kansas, Styx, Dream Theater, Spock's Beard. NOTE: The Mars Volta are Hispanic Americans and don't count. Porcupine Tree is emo/prog, so they get a pass. And I'm carzy enough to want you to warn against going too far with it and ending up Can or Henry Cow. No one would get that but me, probably though. Just some ideas. Bump this thing to 7 or even 8 for me maybe. And where is Yes? They are satire fodder if anyone is. Maybe they are skewered on the Prog rock article? I haven't read it. |
Concept: | 9 | Heh-heh. This is the "concept" category. How could you not give a prog article a high score here? You know I love me some prog concept. |
Prose and formatting: | 5 | I have several things I'd like to see stronger here. It isn't just spelling. It's minor things that for me provide a better overall presentation. Perhaps you will indulge me to implement the improvements I can identify, and you can revert as you see fit? |
Images: | 7 | I love the image concept (there's that word again), the self-aware cred-wagon ride. I'd like to see it extended. Give me some Broadsword and the Beast. Give me some Tormato. Not a single Roger Dean cover? Nope. Heretical on a prog article. There ought to be a rule: every prog article must have at least one Roger Dean cover image. |
Miscellaneous: | 8 | Just to bump it above the 7.5 average a bit, for its "synergy" (not prog, mind you, despite Peter Gabriel's involvement). |
Final Score: | 35 | I love it. It can be even better. |
