Uncyclopedia:Child protection policy/draft1

From Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Uncyclopedia regards the safety of children using the site as a key issue. As such, special consideration is paid towards the safety of young editors here.

Uncyclopedia does not tolerate inappropriate adult–child relationships, and have banned multiple users who have attempted to initiate or encourage these. Editors who attempt to use Uncyclopedia to pursue or facilitate inappropriate adult–child relationships, who advocate inappropriate adult–child relationships on- or off-wiki (e.g. by expressing the view that inappropriate relationships are not harmful to children), or who identify themselves as pedophiles, will be blocked and banned indefinitely.

Age policy[edit source]

Since Uncyclopedia is subject to the laws of the state of Ohio (USA), in order to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not allow users of the age of twelve (12) or under to register. We do not have any means of verifying the age of users though, and as such, users of the age of twelve or under, if they do register, are expected to not tell anyone their age. Any mention of the age of a user who is twelve or under will be revision deleted, even if the user in question objects.

Additionally, users between the ages of thirteen (13) and seventeen (17) are officially discouraged from revealing their age on Uncyclopedia. These users will also have their age or any mentions thereof revision deleted, but this will be reversed if the user in question objects (albeit after they are presented with the Child Protection Policy).

Any mention of something which may imply an age of below 18 is subject to the Age Policy as described here. Examples of these include sentences such as "I'm in ninth grade right now".

If a user refuses to reveal to you their age, please respect their decision. Disrespecting this may result in you being huffed for a long, long, long time.

Uncyclopedia and its content[edit source]

Some pages on Uncyclopedia may arguably be considered only appropriate for adults of the age of eighteen (18) or over; these pages are colloquially known as NSFW pages. There are no age confirmation gates or warnings before NSFW content is shown. By using Uncyclopedia, you agree to the possibility of encountering NSFW pages, even when you are not looking for it specifically.

Uncyclopedia, as a website parodying Wikipedia, may sometimes contain content which may be surprisingly obscene, and others that aren't; often times, you will find NSFW content when you least expect it. Please take this into consideration whilst using Uncyclopedia, especially if you are under the age of 18.

Handling of reports[edit source]

Child endangerment, child protection and child pornography[edit source]

Reports of editors attempting to pursue or facilitate inappropriate adult–child relationships, or otherwise breaching trust and safety, should be made to User:Zombiebaron by email (Special:EmailUser/Zombiebaron), or by directly messaging Zombiebaron on Uncyclopedia's Discord or IRC servers. Reports of issues concerning images should be sent to the same email address.

Apparent on-wiki advocacy[edit source]

Editors seemingly pushing agendas can be referred to any administrator in exactly the same way as any other POV-pushing allegation. Comments posted on Uncyclopedia suggesting that an editor may be a pedophile will be revision deleted promptly, to avoid issues of privacy and possible libel. You should raise your concerns only by email or via direct message; questions or accusations directed against a particular editor in project space are publicly visible, and as such, should not be used. If no personally identifiable information needs to be divulged, a user may contact any admin via their talk page.

Advice for young editors[edit source]

If you are a younger editor and feel that another person on Uncyclopedia is behaving in a way that you feel threatens your personal safety, or worries you in any way whatsoever, please tell a responsible adult, and ask them to look at this page. Do not continue to communicate with the other person – ignore the person completely. Never give out information such as your address or phone number to anyone, including people who say or claim that they are trying to help you. When in doubt about whether certain information is too personal to share, do not give it out.

Finally[edit source]

Some people think our younger editors do not have the maturity (or, surprisingly enough, lack thereof), knowledge (or lack thereof), skills (or lack thereof), or attitudes needed to work on Uncyclopedia. Our young editors prove them wrong every day. Do not discriminate against authors who you believe are younger than you for their age, as that falls under our No-Cyberbullying rule.
