Valid points. It is the way it is mostly because of inertia (also, see User:SPIKE/UnNews#Content). TeleTypes were softened 3 dB a few months ago; perhaps more is in order. I'll take a look. Spıke ¬ 11:14 31-Oct-10

Have taken 3 measures out of the musical intro (but not for stories already in the can) and attenuated the TeleTypes another 5 dB. I'm not getting rid of them, as the noise in the background enables me to edit the speech and have the result sound perfect. Spıke ¬ 12:19 31-Oct-10
