34-year-old cleaner Digane Bambeti has exclusively revealed to UnNews that Nelson Mandela's deathbed was "an absolute disgrace".
While the world mourned the death of the face of racial harmony, Bambeti was left alone in the room to clean up after the former ANC leader and South African President.
"When I first went in there, I thought oh-my-God it smells. It was something like my grandfather, but a twisted version, like a witch doctor had cursed his bowels."
Bambeti has worked the minimum wage job for the last two years, but claimed that cleaning up after the father of the Rainbow Nation was the worst job he had ever had.
"It was disgusting. I lifted up the quilt and the sheets - which were supposed to be white - were almost yellow. There were snotty tissues all over the bedside tables and in the bedding. I swear to God he can't have got out of bed once in the last 6 months. I think he must have done his business - both kinds - right there in the bed."
"Twenty four hours later, I still can't get the smell out of my nose."
Mandela, who languished for 26 years in prison and became an icon to oppressed people around the world, was said to have become extremely lax about his personal hygiene in the last six months of his life.
"I know for many people he will always be a hero, a saint," added Bambeti. "But for me, you can tell a lot about a man from his bed, and his was an absolute disgrace."
