UnNews:Kate Bush stuns fans with sweary punk set
Saturday, August 30, 2014
Kate Bush stunned fans on the fifth night of her comeback tour - by playing a 32-minute set of punk songs, riddled with filthy language.
The 56-year-old, whose Monday show lasted three hours and featured huge choreographed routines and a short play, suddenly changed tack, and instead introduced her faithful to a string of new, high-octane punk numbers, including Tarantula, Rohypnol, Deathbed and Period Pain.
The singer rattled off 17 tracks in just over half an hour, and was largely uncommunicative between songs. When she did speak, the singer's words were littered with profanities.
As her guitarist left the stage after breaking his guitar early on in the set, one fan took advantage of the lull in proceedings and screamed "Wuthering Heights", in reference to Bush's most famous song. Without missing a beat, Bush spat back, "Someone tell that cunt to shut the fuck up."
The crowd, which had initially greeted the star with ecstatic adulation, generally fell into stunned silence afterwards, with just a small minority of fans attempting to applaud politely during the very brief gaps that occurred between songs in the breakneck set.
After the deafening racket of Fake Baby suddenly ended, Bush stood on stage and repeated the word "Fake" over and over again in a monotone voice, before telling the bemused audience to "piss off back where you came from", dropping the microphone on the stage, and strutting offstage.
