Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a 2023 platformer game developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo. It is also the thirteenth mainline installment in the Kirby series and the second in the Last of Us series. The player controls Kirby, titular character in the Kirby franchise, and make your way through the so-called "Forgotten Land" to save your friends in a new world where Waddle Dees are kidnapped by the evil Beast Pack.

The game sold really well, even being a contender for "Best Game of 2023" at the Game Awards, only beaten by Baldur's Gate 3.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the second fully 3D platformer game in the Kirby series, the first being Kirby's Pinball, where the player must guide Kirby through several levels in various different stages, unlike almost any other Kirby game. Kirby can still inhale enemies and objects. Unlike any of the previous games, however, Kirby can inhale and "swallow" entire cars and vending machines. These forms are called "mouthfuls," which feel like excuses for the Kirby fandom to make vore jokes.

Plot[edit | edit source]

We set the scene in Planet Popstar. From what I can recall, something chucked Kirby into this weird portal which sent him to this new world... or maybe Kirby was sucked in himself. Either way, before you knew it, ahead of Kirby is an abandoned city where real human beings used to live, something Kirby had never seen before in his life. Also, the natives decided to capture King Dedede and his waddle dees, but who cares about those guys?

Reception[edit | edit source]

There were positive reviews and negative reviews. What else is there to say? It's a solid game with some good things and some bad things. There was IGN, who gave it a 10/10 for "being one of the best sequels to The Last of Us that we could've gotten," but who cares about IGN? Who even cares about receptions of games in general? Enjoy games how you want to enjoy them.
