I think the first time was pre-VFH, when articles were just stuck on the front page whenever somebody felt like it. Eventually someone suggested we make it a "real" feature. —rc (t) 04:18, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
It was featured once normally, and once as the 9th best article of 2005 (tied with Redundancy and Redundancy). Crazyswordsman...With SAVINGS!!!! (T/C) 05:42, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, that was actually its third time on the front page. —rc (t) 05:56, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Kitten Huffing was the prototype feature when we first introduced the pseudo-Wikipedia layout. It was picked by Chron and didn't go through the voting process, so was not officially "featured." The featuring in August was intended to rectify this loophole. The templates on the page weren't added until later. --Algorithm 23:55, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
