Forum:FFW 2019
Uncyclopedia's last proper Forest Fire Week was in 2013 - at which point many users complained that the prior FFW (in 2011) was too aggressive. This was evidenced by the high-score counter in which Zombiebaron, TheHumbucker and Dr. Skullthumper virtually tied for about 500 burned articles apiece. Uncyclopedia has recently suffered from a ton of vandalism and shallow editing, and it's time once again to clean up the content base. This time, we must focus more on identifying and repairing the shittiest of our articles, reserving only the worst of them for the surprise.
For those of you who weren't around the last time the citizens of Uncyclopedia switched on their flamethrowers in the name of crap removal, it's simple enough: tag an article, it's dead in seven days - unless someone swoops in and saves it from the flames in time. The official page for FFW can accessed here. Here are a few guidelines for on next week's festivities:
Team deletionist
- Press Special:Random until you find a page that disgusts you.
- Check the page history to make sure it wasn't vandalized.
- Tag it with {{FFW|~~~~~}}.
- (optional) Add it to your watchlist to make sure nobody removes the template.
Team inclusionist
- Peruse Category:Articles tagged for burnination for articles worth saving (category will become active when FFW starts)
- Either:
- Fix up the article before the 7-day time limit, or
- Move the page to your userspace. If you pick the latter, please list the redirect (if any) on QVFD.
- If you think the article was tagged in error and should stay in mainspace, contact the tagger to see if you can't work it out. If not, VFD is always open.
- If you've fixed up an article and would like the tag removed, ask the tagger to do so. If you can't work that out
there is no hope for youmove it to your userspace and ask for some piss.
Referees
- QA patrollers: We'll need people to keep their eyes on Recent Changes to revert any illegitimate template removals (through vandalism or people just plain being sneaky). Protip: For those of you who like to communicate, there is a #FFW channel in our Discord server.
- Admins: You'll find a new maintenance page (becomes active when FFW starts) just for FFW. But if you've participated in FFW yourself, please refrain from using it! Every day after the end of FFW you will receive an automatically generated list of articles with expired {{FFW}} tags that you have not placed on the article yourself. That way we can cut down on the margin of error when huffing. So yes, that does mean to actually look at the articles before huffing them!
A final note for historical purposes: as of this writing, Uncyclopedia has 30,734 articles. For comparison, we just topped 30,000 articles at the start of the last FFW, due a surge in activity from new and old writers in 2013. I don't actually know what that means.
