WTF is this?! - God on Rock Bands

Typical Rocker.

History[edit | edit source]

Rock bands are a type of band that mainly originated from Blues and started to getting increasingly popular in the 1960's. Rock bands play genre of music usually known as rock and sometimes blues and Psyhcedelia. Rock music usually consists of highly electrified and amplified instruments, such as the bass guitar and the electric guitar, it usually has a steady drum beat and repetitive lyrics. Probably the first real rock star out there was Elvis Presley who rocked during the 50's and 60's and then in the 70's,and he got fat during the 70's which made him depressed. With all the depression, Elvis faked suicide, and everyone thought he was dead. Now he tours the world as: Honkey Tonky.

Bands[edit | edit source]

There is a lot that needs to be covered here so I will name some and it can added to later. Please feel free to edit.

Led Zeppelin- This was a 60-70's blues rock band that originated in England and consisted of: Robert Plant, Jimmy Page,John Bonham(Bonzo), and John Paul Jones. Led Zeppelin's style was a distorted Bonzo-ish drum beat, with Jimmy Page's heavy blues guitar sound(often confused with heavy metal, which it's not!) and Robert Plant's lyrics that tell us how he got laid or other sexual things.

Led Zeppelin. Note: Robert Plant is the puffy yellow-haired perv dude in the back.

The Rolling Stones The Rolling Stones,(or more commonly known as,"the world's ugliest rock act of all time") were a British rock band in the 60 and now, that consist of: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and whatever the rest of them are called. They songs usually talk about love or seducing the Devil as told in the song, "Sympathy for the Devil". Their other songs like, "Brown Sugar" talk about getting a Black girlfriend. And their most famous song, "Satisfaction", talks about having sex and not liking it, as the lyrics imply:" I tried, and I tried... I can't get no satisfaction...I can't get no girlie action. Unlike stopping in the 60's like the Beatles they continued on into two more generations like they were Titanic survivors or something. Somehow, all their commercial success made them very famous. (Not actually)

The Rolling Stones.Aren't they just the sweetest!

The Beatles The Beatles are a British rock band from the 60's which consisted of: John Lennon, Paul McCartney(The Walrus), George Harrison, and Ringo Starr(Everyone's fourth favorite Beatle, if there's such thing). When the Beatles first started out, they had a Tin Pan Alley sound which consisted of Ringo beating his drums off-beat, Paul trying to play bass guitar, John Lennon's screaming his voice out(Heard on "Twist and Shout" and "Baby It's You"), and also George who didn't give fuck about how his guitar sounded, often his lead lines were gargled by John's chiming guitar which played chords all the time. As the Beatles got more famous and stopped touring, they started experimenting with drugs,(especially John, c'mon you know the Walrus right!?)and they started doing Psyhcedlic stuff. Great examples of these are: "I Am the Walrus"(Actually Paul.John got confused because of his acid trip and accidentally put "I" instead of "Paul"), "Hello Goodbye", and "L.ucy In The S.ky With D.iamonds" (LSD). After this stage, the Beatles started hating Paul,(especially Ringo), and made a songs' such as : "The End", "Octopuses Garden", and "Revolution". All these songs made Paul mad, especially "Octopuses Garden", and here's why. "The End" pissed Paul off because it was the other Beatles telling him it was the end and he wanted them to continue so he could rule as the Walrus King. The only reason Paul disliked "Octopuses Garden" was because it was originally titled "Walrus Garden", and Ringo changed it just to piss him off. "Revolution" angered Paul because he knew it was another one of Lennon's anti-war hippie songs...and that's why he disliked it.

In an attempt to look more coyboy-ish, the beatles only succeeded to look like hippies.

Jimi Hendrix Experience The Jimi Hendrix Experience was another attempt of Jimi Hendrix to make some money cuz everyone thought he was the best guitarist ever. The Experience was a 60's Psyhcedelic Rock group which is highly recognizable by Jimi Hendrix only. They managed to have three major hits: "Voodoo Child", "Purple Haze", and "Hey Joe".Since Jimi overplayed these songs so many times the audience would get impatient and try to climb upstage and mob his band. To stop this, Jimi would light his guitar on fire, and it soon became a common thing for him.

Don't fuck with Jimi.

AC/DC This is the shit. AC/DC is an Australian rock band that started out in the 70's and still rocks today. The band consists of: "Angus Young", "Malcom Young", "Phill Rudd" "the bass player", and "Brian Johnson" (the crappy singer who replaced Bon Scott). AC/DC is commonly characterized by Angus's rock-ish guitar sound, and Brian's crappy vocals. In the early days when bon Scott was with them they released "Highway to Hell" and "TNT". After Bon Scott died they still wanted to continue, so they needed a new singer, so they got Brian Johnson. AC/DC asked him to sing for them and also asked how he got his famous, "high pitched Elmo with nails voice". Brian explained that he needed to drink 7 ounces of semen a day, along with gargling rocks. even though Angus didn't like his voice, they made a new album, "Back in Black" which gave them international success. Needles to say, maybe Brian was a good singer after all.

God's favorite band, AC/DC.

Black Sabbath

Again, another British rock...I mean metal band that started out in the 70's and got famous. The band original and main line-up consisted of: "Tony Iommi", "Butler Geezer", "the drummer", and "Ozzy Osbourne" (A.K.A. The Prince of Cute Little Pink Things). Black Sabbath's sound is easily recognized by Tony's dark sounding guitar, the drummer's heavy beat, and Ozzy's "catscratch" vocals. Black Sabbath enjoyed much commercial success with hits like: "Iron Man", and "Paranoid". That's about everything I can say about Sabbath. Oh yeah, Ozzy was fired in 1979 because he had a major masturbating problem that disturbed the other members of Sabbath. (e.g. Ozzy jerking off in the studio, Ozzy jerking off on-stage, Ozzy jerking off onto the audience etc.)

A bunch of guys with cool facial hair, I mean uh, Black Sabbath.

Queen Yet another British rock band but this one is actually cool. Queen was formed in 1970 with, "Brian May", "Freddie Mercury", and "Roger Taylor"(the bass player,John Deacon joined a year later). Queen is highly recognized by Freddie's girlie vocals, and Brian's guitar. Early on they had success with hits like: "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Keep Yourself Alive", and "Seven Seas of Rye". Much of this early success was because they were the only good rock band in England during that time. But later in the 80's they still received much success with crappy pop hits like: "I Want To Break Free", "Radio Gaga"(Not to be confused with Lady Gaga!), and "Under Pressure". Sure they were a good band but fans hated that Brian's hairstyle was copying Slash's even he wasn't famous then. Most of Queen's fans were [[Prophets] as well as future Slash fans. All of the criticism Brian got about his hair made him depressed, and he contemplated suicide. But Freddie urged him to do the "I Want To Break Free" promo video just so he could see Brian in a dress. Note: Freddie wasn't Gay at all! The bass player was. It's a well known fact.

Fredde Mercury, shown here with Queen, obviously taking off his pants.

Instruments That Rockers Use[edit | edit source]

Electric Guitars- Used to make the song sound cool and the guitarist's would usually write the music. Mainly used to make the melody

Drums - For special effects. Gives the song the hard steady beat, fast tempo, and to make it precise.

Bass Guitar - Makes the song sound bassier and produces a "background noise" which makes the drums fit in better.

Keyboard and Piano - Like the guitar used to make the song sound cool and for the melody

Vocals - Usually done by lead singer, but can be done by the guitarist or other band member.

Sub-Genres[edit | edit source]

Punk Rock - Bands associated in this Genre include: The Ramones, The Clash, Nirvana, Bad Brains, and The Misfits. Punk rock is usually identified by very distorted guitars that are playing power chords, a fast steady drum beat, and simple lyrics that talk about non-conformism, or just anything that makes a Punk rocker feel good.

Heavy Metal - Bands associated with this Genre include: Metallica, Megadeath, Black Sabbath,Ozzy Osbourne, and Iron Maiden. Heavy Metal is easily distinguished by screaming vocals, very high front-end gain on the guitars, and usually a fast tempo. The lyrics to a Metal song may be about death, gruesome shit, iron man, or sandman.

Psyhcedelic Rock - Bands associated with this genre include: Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, and The Doors. Bands like these have songs that are easily recognized by different effects used to make the guitars sound funny, drug induced lyrics, and unusually long instrumentals and guitar solos.
