Features[edit source]

What you can feature[edit source]

A featurable article is any article that gets a high enough score on VFH!

Current Vote Minimum: +5

We are currently featuring new articles every few days centuries[note 2]. Check the feature queue. If there are no articles pending, re-features (RFAs) can be done every day.

How to do it[edit source]

Before anything else, you must add this code to your personal css file:

.featurecode { display: inline !important; color:black; }

Once you have done that, the steps are as follows:

  1. Open the VFH summary page and find the article you want to feature on the list.
  2. Edit the nomination page. Add the following tag at the bottom (making relevant changes and an optional comment)
    • {{vfh featured| |sig=~~~~|stamp=day month year|comment= x for, x against, feature article}}
  3. Save the page. It should look like this.
    Howtofeature.jpg
    This will officially close the vote.
  4. Click on "Click to feature this article".
  5. You will be taken to an edit page where you must fill in the following missing parameters:
    1. Add the page's feature date (ex: 30 November 2022). This will be the date which is displayed on the Main Page.
    2. Next, replace all the instances of [[ARTICLE NAME HERE]] or [[example]] with the the article title and replace the example text ("text text text") with the initial passage from the article you want to display on the main page.
    3. Finally, add the illustration in the place of "IMAGE.JPG".
  6. Preview your edit to make sure everything looks good and the links aren't red.
  7. Save the page.

  8. Copy the feature code (which is {{FA|date=21 December 2015|revision=5814684}} in the example above) from the feature queue entry you just created and paste it at the bottom of the newly featured article.
  9. Remove {{VFH}} and save the page.
  10. Give the page an indefinite semi-protection (autoconfirmed users only) and the appropriate FA categories (for instance, the page on Broken Britain can go under the category FA British as well as FA Politics). You can see categories here
  11. Finally update the Hall of Shame and/or administer a {{FH}} if applicable.

How to close the vote[edit source]

Before you can feature an article, you must close the vote. Simply to go the VFH page of the article in question and enter this code at the bottom:

{{vfh featured| |sig=~~~~ |stamp=01 Date Year (Change the date) |comment= }}

Failed nominations[edit source]

Which nominations can be marked as failed[edit source]

It's up to you to decide if and when a nomination has failed. Some things to consider:

  1. How low is the health?
  2. Is the score negative?
  3. How long has it been since somebody last voted?

How to mark a nomination as failed[edit source]

You must have the css code described above.

  1. Go to the VFH summary and find the page you wish to remove.
  2. Add the VFH failed tag (with optional comments). This will close the vote:
    • {{vfh failed |sig=~~~~ |stamp= day month year |comment= time, -x votes (x for, x against) }}
  3. Save the page.
  4. Go to the article and remove the {{VFH}} tag.
  5. Save the page.

  1. By "might" we mean "it absolutely will". The featuring system barely functions already, and it's not a good idea to test its limits.
  2. Not really. But it might as well take that much time.
