Terwilliger could have used this as an opportunity to teach about tolerance (and, by doing so, help to open the minds of the insufferable little pricks, leading them to do the right thing). Instead, he used a heavy hand and came down on the wrong side of the first amendment, IMO (from the gist of the original article, he just suspended them, rather than explaining that the shirts were bullying, giving them a chance to apologize...then suspending them if they refused).

what about the really angry ones? just look at these quotes from the bible that could be catchy slogans on shirts and bumperstickers.
