After a hard-fought season and a surprising playoffs, here are the final results:

Thanks for a great season, those of you that played. At some point I will be making myself a victory template worthy of my great victory and the thorough ass-kicking I put upon you all. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 19:08, December 28, 2009 (UTC)

Fantasy Football Retrospective Discussion

awsume, i should've joined but i was too busy pooping. -

I won! The last game of the year against a guy who wasn't playing... but who cares? I won!--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 00:17, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

I somehow missed out too. Next year. I ended up with a #1 seed in ESPN and a #2 seed in Yahoo. Both 10 team leagues with disc golf people. The #2 seed went totally limp the week the playoffs started. The first round bye didn't even help the inevitable phail. The #1 seed is heading into week 2 of the champion matchup with a 29 (plus whatever Longwell gives me tonight) point lead.--DRStrangesig5.png Sherman.png Fingertalk.png  00:29, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

Nice. I'm in three, all on Yahoo: in one I went 8-6, was the #2 seed, and lost in the championship round; this one I (obviously) went 12-2, got the #1 seed, and won the championship in; and the third I went 9-6, was the #2 seed, and have the championship next week. Yeah, I'm pretty good a fantasy football. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 08:05, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
Well this was my first one ever, and it sucked. I lost the last game of the season against a guy who's running back had been out for the last month or two, and who hadn't edited his roster in even longer. I made the coolest comeback, and then still got knocked back down to 6th place. CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT SEASON!! Che 15px-SBQ3.JPG } 16:40,29December,2009
Second place, and had a chance to win if Stephen Jackson plays instead of being a game-time scratch. I'm happy with how things ended though. My team actually picked it uup at the end, instead of playing dreadful as they had in the beginning. Though, to be honest, at the end there I should have changed the team name from Dibiasi's Millions to the Aaron Rodgers's. That guy freakin carried my team. Woody On Fire! Wood burning.gifTalking Woody Stalking Woody 16:51, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
I had Rodgers in the 8-6 one. He's having a beast of a season. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 20:54, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

Actual Football Discussion

So how 'bout that AFC playoff race? Eh? Eh?Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 08:06, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

Gotta love a season when Baltimore loses a must win game in Pittsburgh, mainly because of it's own incompitence, and still controls it's own destiny because ever other single team with a shot at the playoffs lost too! Just rediculous. None of the AFC teams going for the wild card deserve to get in. At all. Woody On Fire! Wood burning.gifTalking Woody Stalking Woody 16:43, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
I know, really. It doesn't matter who gets in, though, because the Pats and Cincy are going to kick the crap out of them. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 20:57, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
I'm from near the Baltimore area, and am somewhat of a Ravens fan, so I root for them, but gah, they don't deserve it. Woody On Fire! Wood burning.gifTalking Woody Stalking Woody 20:59, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
Well, they do moreso than the Steelers, Fins, and Texans. The Ravens were totally robbed in that Pats game, and should have probably beat the Steelers last week as well. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 10:08, December 30, 2009 (UTC)

Eagles. Che 15px-SBQ3.JPG } 17:40,30December,2009

Wait...

What exactly does the Eagles' loss mean? Now both them and the Cowboys are 11-5. What does this mean for the playoffs? Che 15px-SBQ3.JPG } 00:00,4January,2010

It means the Eagles now have a detailed list of all the Cowboys most-successful plays.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 12:55, January 4, 2010 (UTC)
It also means the Cowboys host the Eagles next week instead of the other way 'round. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 04:16, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
Which is complete bull. `Che 15px-SBQ3.JPG } 11:48,5January,2010
If it makes you feel any better, I think the Eagles are going to win that game, as they know exactly what the Cowboys plan on doing. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 18:27, January 6, 2010 (UTC)

I'm just impressed that the Eagles somehow made the Cowboys look good. That's a major accomplishment.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 04:48, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

I, for one, am surprised as hell at how well the Boys have been playing of late. In other news, Carson Palmer can't lead a receiver to save his life. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 07:33, January 10, 2010 (UTC)

Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year

Chris Johnson and Charles Woodson, respectively. And Manning got the MVP, obviously. Discuss. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 16:31, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

No. Che 15px-SBQ3.JPG } 17:10,13January,2010
I agree with Manning as MVP. He leaves for a game and a half, and that team lost to Buffalo. So, yeah. But I would go with Brees on the Offense, and Revis on D. Revis is seriously good. Woody On Fire! Wood burning.gifTalking Woody Stalking Woody 17:44, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
I don't know for sure about Manning, and I don't watch the defense a whole ton, but I'd say Brees is definitely getting offense. Che 15px-SBQ3.JPG } 19:09,13January,2010
Well, Johnson and Woodson already won. I just would have gone elsewhere. (Not that they weren't completely deserving.) Woody On Fire! Wood burning.gifTalking Woody Stalking Woody 19:31, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
Oh oops. I don't really stay in the loop as much as I probably should. Che 15px-SBQ3.JPG } 19:58,13January,2010
I totally agree with Manning for MVP (Seven come-from-behind 4th quarter comeback victories. Seven!), as well as Johnson for OPY (Guy rushed for 2000+ yards and broke the yards-from-scrimmage record). As for DPY it's a toss up between Woodson and Revis in my opinion. Woodson's got the picks, the return TDs, and the stats in general, but I've watched about five or six Jets games this year, and Revis just friggin' blankets whomever he's covering. In that playoff game, I swear to God he was reacting to Ochocinco's cuts before he Ocho even made them (and he totally outplayed Chad for the ball on that INT he got). Between them it's basically a coin-flip. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 06:44, January 15, 2010 (UTC)

Divisional Round

So all the home teams--despite all seemingly being poised to be upset--won, except for the one team that was supposedly a lock. Go figure that one out. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 06:41, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

I had faith in Norv Turner's ability to lose the big game (it sure was a smart move for them to fire Schottenheimer for him...), though I was surprised at how easily the Colts won. Neither of the other two games surprised me (Saints/Vikings will be a game for the ages next week...).--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 22:15, January 18, 2010 (UTC)
Hell yeah. The Colts are a virtual lock for the Super Bowl if you ask me (then again, people have been wrong about this sort of thing before...), and the NFC Championship game practically has "Instant Classic" written all over it already, and it hasn't even been played yet. Going into this past week, I thought the Chargers were going to pound the shit out of the Jets, but the fact that they totally choked doesn't really surprise me all that much the more I think about it. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 04:29, January 19, 2010 (UTC)

Super Bowl

Colts-Saints Super Bowl. So, who's pysched? Moreover, who's winning? I'll be pulling for Indy (obviously), and Vegas has the Colts as 3 1/2 point favorites, so yeah. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 13:56, January 25, 2010 (UTC)

I'm excited about the outcome of the Saints-Vikings game, but disappointed to not see Jets with the come-from-behind. Pulling for the Saints in the Sbowl. Che 15px-SBQ3.JPG } 20:12,25January,2010
I think the Saints' weakness is in the secondary, so this game should go the Colts' way. The Saints have gotten away with their weakness because of their ability to cause fumbles, but I can just see Manning throwing out routes the whole game (except for the three plays they forget to cover Collie or Clark down the middle. Those, of course, will be touchdowns.). Since the Saints have the best recieving corp I've ever seen, I won't be surprised if this is the highest-scoring Super Bowl ever.--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 00:51, January 26, 2010 (UTC)
Woah, I dunno about the best receiving corp. What about Harrison-Wayne-Stokely from '04? Or Bruce-Holt? Or Rice-Taylor-Clark-Craig? Or Rice-Brown? Or the four-headed monster the Oilers of old had going on? Hell, I don't even think they have the best receivers in the NFC now: Fitzgerald-Boldin-Doucet takes that cake. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 06:22, January 26, 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and how could I forget Carter-Moss from '98? In any event, I think this is going to be a shoot-out, no question about it. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 06:23, January 26, 2010 (UTC)
I am firmly convinced that Lance Moore (the Saints' #4 reciever) could have started for any of the other three teams in the championship game as a #2 receiver. He sometimes struggles to get open, but he can score any time the ball is in his hands. He really is their fourth-best receiver, too. You could make the argument that Colston, their #1, is their least-dangerous reciever, because all he does is get open and catch the ball, he's not a threat to score on every play. The only corp in history I can think of that was better was Rice-Taylor-Jones-Craig-Rathman from the '89 Niners (I forgot about them, somehow... that was a totally unstoppable group in the passing game - oh, and Clark was gone by '87).--<<Bradmonogram.png>> 00:17, January 27, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, true, but a big part of that has to do with the fact that all those guys have Drew Brees throwing them the football. Great quarterbacks can make average receivers look amazing: hell, our boy made Pierre Garcon--an undrafted second-year player--looking like Marvin Fucking Harrison last Sunday. (Conversely, a bad QB can make a great receiver look average--as a Buffalo native, I think there were maybe four passes all year thrown to TO that weren't 10-yard in routes. Conversely conversely, great receivers can make an average QB look amazing: remember in '98 how Moss and Carter made Randal Cunningham look like Warren Moon? Yeah.) In summation, Drew Brees is just really, really fucking good, and he makes the Saints good-but-not great pass catchers look great. That's my two cents, anyway. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 02:40, January 27, 2010 (UTC)
