This page is considered an ignorable policy on Uncyclopedia.

It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that everyone should follow, unless they don't want to, in which case they are free to ignore it, in which case nobody will care. Please make use of the standing on one knee position to propose to this policy.

Vanity Pages are articles about non-notable topics, written either by the subject of the article, or someone who personally knows the subject of the article. The subject does not even have to be a person, it could be an inside joke, non-notable band, etc.

As with at Wikipedia, vanity pages are discouraged at Uncyclopedia. With vanity pages, the subject is unknown to most people and only the writer of the article finds it funny. (There are many places that allow vanity and slander (or slandanity), such as LiveJournal, Myspace, and Encyclop#dia Dramatica)

Generally, when deciding if a page is vanity, we consider:

 • Is it funny?
 • How many google hits does it have?
 • Does wikipedia have a page for it?
 • Have any of the admins heard of it?
 • Is it funny?
 • Is it funny even if you've never heard of the subject?
 • Did you say "LOL" while you read over it?

Uncyclopedia does not allow vanity pages, with a few exceptions:

Community Sites

DOES IT MAKE U HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH OR DOES IT MAKE YOU WEEEEEEEE IN UR PAINTIES OR IF U R A SEXY COOL GUY DOES IT MAKE U HAHAHAHAHAHAHA OR DOES IT MAKE YOU WEEEEEEEE IN UR BOXERS.

One vanity page per community site (forums, linkblogs, etc.) is allowed. All cruft is kept to one page, and not allowed or encouraged to spill over. This specifically includes restrictions on wikilinking to nonexistant pages that should not be created, for example, links to every username in a list of users. Sub pages are allowed, as well as wikilinks to User: namespace for users that have registered nicknames.

As with all other pages at Uncyclopedia, if the vanity page is low quality or not funny, it is candidate for deletion.

Permitted vanity pages must be marked with the vanity template. To do this, add the following to the page:

Vanity

Stick to these guidelines to avoid insta-deletion:

 1. Keep all content to one page, and a minimum number of subpages thereof (subpages are titled Pagename/subpage, eg Yourpage/users)
 2. Do not encourage vanityspam by wikilinking usernames/nicknames to main article namespace (eg JoeBob). If you must linkify them, use local anchor tags (#JoeBob), sub-pages (Yourpage/Users#JoeBob) or user namespace (User:JoeBob only for logged in users).
 3. Do not encourage annoying article creation by wikilink words and concepts that outside readers will not get, use local or subpage links.

User Pages

Your user page can have as much information about you as you want. If you would like to do it in article style and write a fake biography, go ahead and do it on your user page. If you create a vanity page thats not on your user page, and the admin who finds it is in a good mood, they might move it to your user page for you.

You can get to your user page by clicking on your username at the very top of the page. You must be a registered user to edit your user page.

User pages don't need to conform to the template rules or funnieness standards.

Do not create redirects to your user page from the article namespace. Redirects may temporarily exist if a user's page has been moved to their User: space (by them or by an administrator), but these should be put on the QVFD when spotted.

Teachers/Lecturers/Crossing GuardsLollipop Ladies/Dinner Ladies/Etc.

You can write about a teacher referring them only by Mr/Mrs/Ms and the FIRST LETTER of their last name, with no picture and no specific location. We are not a stalking site. They must also be added to the Category:Teachers who let their students visit Uncyclopedia during class (a generic repository for teachers). See that category for examples.

Vanity pages are on the lowest ladder of the food chain. If anybody takes offense, it is very likely it will go. If someone could potentially take offense, especially if it is against a non notable person, it may go. Admin discretion applies in this case. Keep in mind that Uncyclopedia is not a hate site, nor an insult site towards individual people. Malcontent towards individuals will not be tolerated.
