Wilcannia is a backwater-bumfuck small town located halfway between nowhere and the grand shit-heap of Angry Max. It is best known for being the birthplace and the spiritual homeland of the Cave Clan. Wilcannia is multicultural and features a Chinese restaurant. In 2012 it future-proofed itself by building a town website.

History[edit | edit source]

Wilcannia was founded when several outliers grew sick of the Broken Hole shit-heap stench and moved away. The abundance of sandstone buildings in town attracted the attention of many noteworthy people including Tarquin Wilde (son of Oscar Wilde and his South African lover, Paul Rettar). Tarquin was so won over by the customs of the people of Wilcannia that he started the Wilcannia Museum of Dis-used Hankies; the first of its kind in Australia.

In 1996 the founding members of the Cave Clan, Gary, Choofer and Scruffy met in an abandoned shed by accident. It is reported that Gary was looking for his lost hanky and that Scruffy had been attracted to a strong odour, which turned out to be Gary's missing hanky. The three went on the form the Cavity Club, exploring drains, abandoned sheds and burnt out cars. They eventually went on to recruit other hanky lovers from across the globe.

Climate[edit | edit source]

It's about as hot as (*your mother joke*).

Industry[edit | edit source]

Wilcannia's main industrial focus is on the creation, maintenance and distribution of soiled hankies.

The townsfolk are also credited with developing Australia's first communication network. This ran on voice technology and involved a lot of shouting from fibro shack to fibro shack.

It is a little known fact that Wilcannia residents are somewhat enamored by rabbits. In 1892 they hired a man just to collect rabbits with red eyes on the children's behalf. Wilcannia Abattoir has the largest collection of rabbits in the southwestern region of the state.
