Reaching into your pocket, you take out the thoroughly charred steak and hold it out to the troll.

The troll takes it from you. "Oh, thank you." he says gratefully, sounding surprisingly amiable. He chomps it down in one gulp...and five seconds later, he's on the ground, dead from that weird cancer you get from burnt food. What a bit of luck.
