Stussy S is a modern style of the S letter, at least a superior letter, a graffiti-like mark in popular culture typically scrawled in children's notebooks or painted on wall. The exact origins of this sussy S are not exactly known, but it may have originated in geometry textbooks and emerged around the early 1970s as part of graffiti culture. Contrary to popular belief, the symbol is not associated with sussy as we think. It can be a mark from the band MONSTA S on We Bare Bears or a really cool version of the mark from Superman clothes, but it will be really cool really popular in the eyes of the child if Superman himself use the sussy S as the mark on his own clothes.
Origin[edit | edit source]
The origin of the sussy S is not clear, Simon says the symbol is associated with the American clothing brand Stüssy along with the character Superman but it isn't, although Stüssy did an interview in 2010 with Jon Naar , a pioneering graffiti photographer whose work includes the S, dates back to the 70s. Back to the 70s, the photographer Howard Gribble he took several photographs of Los Angeles, many of it could also have some NSFW graffiti or artwork on it, but it also featured the number 8 have a style số similar to it. In one of his photographs, a very faint sussy S as we see could be seen graffitied on the sidewalk. Since the photo was taken in 1973, the sussy S itself may date from the 60s, making it the earliest photographic evidence of the symbol.
David Wångstedt, known on YouTube as LEMMiNO, has been researching on the subject for nearly five years, trying to find the origin of this superior S. He concluded that it is from the book Mechanical Graphics written by professor Frederick Newton Willson in 1890 that's quite a long time tho yes due to long time he confirm that is the origin of the symbol.
