Everybody seems to have a common goal, becoming an admin.. And everybody thinks it's all games and fun. Well, it may be at first, but after sometime, it gets boring. Real boring. And annoying. And I shit you not, take a look at this essay by the famed Famine, whom I've always thought of as a power-drunk tyrant admin, but changed my mind after reading his essay.
Seriously, being an admin will not get you paid, it will just get you more troubles. And clusterfucks of assholes and asshats to deal with. Yeah, maybe having the Block, Delete and Protect buttons on your interface is cool, but when you HAVE to be USING THEM; banning vandals and detetrring vain schoolkids and the ilk, you won't find time for other stuff, you won't write as much as you do when you you are a trouble-free reg, you won't find time for reading new stuff your buddies write AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, you won't find time for YOUR REAL LIFE. (And I believe that almost all regular contributors here have a good life. Adminship just adds more burdens to admins' lives). You will also grow a 'stache, a beard and become a bureaucrat; take a look at any admin, poor old Mordillo for example, he used to be funny, happy, gay, merry, jolly and so forth, before he became admin. He used to write funny stuff, hang out at the forums, crack jokes and generally enjoy himself. Take a quick look at old forums and archives. And after one year of adminship, and dedicating himself for the wiki, working harder than many other admins to maintain the wiki.. Well, see for yourself. He no longer writes stuff, he became annoyingly serious, and overall, he isn't the same guy he used to be as a reg. So are most other admins..
Personally, I don't want to (more like can't) be an admin for the following reasons:
- I am not experienced enough
- I am not good with code
- I do not like to bear such responsibility
- A dozen other users deserve it far more than I do..
- I find n00bs annoying
- I hate myself
- Ok. This is getting stupid.. Better leave.. Bye Bye!
